I now might get one around 2016-17, when they've had a few price drops, to play the exclusives (if enough end up interesting me). I wouldn't have approached one with an eight-foot pole before.

I'm at a probably, but further along down the line. The whole garbage with the ghost discs is what really put me off to begin with, but now that its taken care of, we can talk. Though I am still getting a PS4 first, I'm liking their exclusives more this time around.

Most of the time I don't support the idea that gamers are simply contrarians who hate everything, but on occasion, I'm made to wonder. So many people here are saying that it's worse now that they've changed it. What the hell did you want them to do, keep being terrible? And don't feed me some line about... businesstic integrity. Yeah it's still got a few things wrong with it, and yeah, they made these changes only under extreme duress, but what was the point of all the complaining if not to make them make changes for the better. To complain about them changing something because of complaining is just stupid. You don't need to buy the console if you don't support it, but don't be hypocritical.

Apparently pre-orders for the xbox one have now surpassed those of the PS4 via amazon. If that means anything remains to be seen.

Well, it changed it from "Will never get one" to "Might get one".
For consoles, I never like to jump aboard early. I'll let others feel out all the RROD problems and disc drive failures while I wait for the console to build up some exclusives.

Probably not, my PC satisfies my gaming needs.

However, the Xbox One has, thanks to MS's change of direction, been upgraded from "Will NEVER buy" to "May buy in the future, depending on my needs."

That's a definite step up.

While i'n glad they decided to remove the DRM . Microsoft has lost my trust and respect . I will not buy the xbone out of principle . Sure i'll miss some exclusives , but i cannot support a company that tried to do something so low . I am happy for those who will now get a xbone because of the change though .

Mine went from 'Never buy' to.. 'Hesitant to buy' based on track record of Microsoft with their stances on the XBox One.
If there has ever been any ridiculously confusing messages before they would be likened to the government's track record of communication.

Never planned to get a next-gen console from the beginning, at least for a few years. For now, my laptop and I are quite happy together.

Nope. No reason to buy it over the PS4 in my opinion. $100 cheaper, more powerful, none of this shit I even have to worry about. Microsoft screwed the proverbial pooch. No thanks. Sony, you won me over for this generation. As much as we are console gamers, anyway. 85% of my gaming is done on the PC anyway.

Nope, PC gaming, wasn't going to get the Xbone even if there wasn't any controversy from the beginning. No PS4 either. Probably getting a WiiU

It changed from
"Worst idea ever"
to
"Just bad"

Get rid of the Kinnect, then we'll talk.

I'm certainly considering it more than I was when the DRM policies were in place. But I still plan on waiting a while before stepping into the next gen. It'll probably come down to which platform has the most games that I'm interested in.

I'm not about to hold a grudge on this company for 10 years over this incident.

I have no immediate plans to buy an Xbox One though because my decision has always been based on the games.

Nope!

I wasn't planning on getting one before the reveal. I wasn't planning getting one after the reveal. And I'm certainly not planning on getting one now.

The only reason they pulled a complete 180 like this, is because of the reaction to it. Had they not been backed into a corner by Sony and the gaming community like they were nothing would have changed.

I've also had too many bad experiences with Microsoft in this past generation to support another console from them.

If they shaved off the mandatory kinect which would lower the price considerably, made the thing backwards compatible which there is no reason for it not to be, un-shittified the dashboard and stopped screwing indies over and made all my downloadable titles as well as DLC carry over, I would actually consider getting one now.

Not really. I feel like removing the DRM is like putting a bandaid on a headshot wound. There's still the lack of backwards compatibility and the anti pre-owned game software and the mandatory Kinect and the fact that it seems more interested in being an inferior television than a game console.

At this point I wouldn't even consider buying it unless the price came down. And it came with a copy of Killer Instinct 3. And I got it pre-owned (assuming they haven't tried to ban pre-owned consoles by then as well).

Firstly, I would like to say that this was a good move by Microsoft. However a part of me would of been interested to watch a huge corporation march on stubbornly to a product suicide.

On topic: I'm not sure, I'm still not 100% convinced by either console. None of the games have me excited at all so far.

Lastly, can we stop calling it the xbone now? as it Is clearly an Xbox180. This also shows that the current decision cannot be reversed as they already have a 360!!

It hasn't fully changed my position yet, and the WiiU and PS4 still seem like more appealing consoles at the moment. If it gets a decent set of exclusives that I'm highly interested in and know that I'll get, then I'll see about picking it up. Until then, I'm still not sold on it, but at least it has a chance unlike before.

The only thing that the initial screw-up did was make me realize, "hey, Microsoft doesn't have any good exclusives left, I think I'll get the PS4 and save $100 by not getting the required spy-cam." This didn't change that fact. I mean, either way I was going to wait for prices to drop/early-model issues to be resolved before I buy a next-gen console, but unless something horrendous is revealed on Sony's end, that eventual next-gen console will be a PS4, simply because it has better games and costs less. MS might cut the cost over the next couple of years enough that they end up pulling even, but that will only make a difference if they get more good exclusives in that time than Sony does. So yeah, this post basically boils down to "this doesn't change anything."
