Poll: Has Morrowind aged poorly?

I can live with the Graphics, the combat system though is just horrendous...

I actually reinstalled it after playing Oblivion, and was super excited about it,.. until I started playing it without any mods. And I just,......I just can't. *single tear*

The first time I ever played Morrowind was last year, after hearing about how awesome it was, and theres a lot there, it's too bad that the models combined with the animation and fog were headache inducing. So it probably hasn't aged well.

Without mods, I would say it's aged quite poorly. With mods, its still decent.

As far as ES games go, Morrowind is by FAR my favorite. I'm sorry oblivion gates, but you pale in comparison to the climb Red Mountain. Dagoth Ur is a million times the villain than that dedra lord could ever be. You know, he kinda wants to do more than "me crush, me destroy, fire good."

That whole statement confuses me. Is it class as in it has a lot of class? does class imply agelessness?

Most games that feature realistic (relatively and for its time) graphics will age terribly, but considering that the other things such as the combat, interface and just general features were either completely broken or just design-flaws, story and environment is the only thing that can stand the test of time.

1. Emphasis on aesthetics over graphics - the world actually looks unique and interesting.
2. Insane modding community. You can make it look better than games released half a decade later, or tweak the gameplay to your hearts' content.

The second point is moot, seeing as the Oblivion modding community (if you can even start to split the TES modding community in the first place) is as equally or maybe even more active than the morrowind one.

The first one can only represent one aspect of Morrowind that aged well over TES:IV, as Oblivion's combat, interface and pretty much everything bar the realistic graphics (with mods it looks amazing, but still) has aged much better due to being at the core solid design. Oblivion and Morrowind both aged better in different terms and aspects.

Yes. I tried getting into it and it played like a trainwreck. Now the graphics are bad but I can tolerate that, and with some mods that's not even really an issue. What mods don't solve is two key problems; horrible UI and awful, awful combat. Couldn't stand it. Everytime I played it I just got reminded of Oblivion and how much more appealing it was to me. I really wanted to love Morrowind but it's time as passed. It's something I'll never be able to enjoy as much as those old fans, who most likely read this post and wanted to slap me across the face for preferring Oblivion.

EDIT: And let me say this; there is nothing more frustrating than a game that has your skills randomly fail in combat from the start, even when playing a class specced for those skills. When I played Morrowind I found myself failing to do stuff that my class should've been able to pull of easily. It was really damn annoying and made the horrible combat even worse.

In terms of graphics, then yeah, obviously.

Combat? I don't know. It fits the game for me. I never really had a problem with it. Sure it's frustrating at first but combat gets a lot easier after a few levels.

But the game has aged well in terms of story and depth. Most games released today still can't touch it.

Despite aging poorly, Morrowind is still one of my all-time favorite games and you should play it. But if you're going to quit half an hour in because it is 'ugly' and 'slow', and you have to 'read', just don't bother. You're wasting your time on a true classic.
