I was just recently looking at my Windows Media Player and saw all my awful "I'm twelve in 2005" music. The only good stuff on there was the Temptations and a couple of classic rock tracks. Then I dug deeper and found my Led Zeppelin playlist from when I was in fifth grade. I guess I was awesome at one point.

Went from the generic "hard-rock" classics to Hip-hop to a somewhat eclectic mix of genres. Mainly punk and ska though.

I still like the old stuff I used to listen to I just keep finding new stuff I never thought I'd like.

Most people would laugh if I said I liked Seal AND Skrillex... but I just do.

Yeah, I used to listen to Classic Rock, which I still like, but also a decent amount of manufactured crap and a year or two ago I started listening to a lot of indie music and realized how lousy and the same so much of that other stuff is.
I listen to stuff now I never even would have considered two years ago.

Absolutely.

Started 10 years ago when i got my first ADSL connection and started back then pirating music (i was young and didn't know better and was just excited at the opportunities presented to me). It was mostly Europop, Eurodance, Pop and other stuff you heard in the radio in Europe at the time. Stuff like Bomfunk MC's, Backstreet Boys, Daze etc. you get the idea.

2-3 years later, a friend of mine who had a much more expensive internet connection (he actually turns 23 today, grats on the day man) introduced me to Trance, Hard Dance etc. by the way of hard drive file transfer and gave me several gigabytes of the stuff (which back then was a lot of tracks due to high compressoin), which i then started listening to. I was 15-16 years then, but at that point i also had other things to worry about. I was mostly playing Counter-Strike at home, then World of Warcraft came out, and since MP3 players were limited and expensive back then, i didn't care much.

In addition i started learning Metal and Industrial Rock music from internet movies of games. Counter-Strike movies, and later WoW movies introduced me to bands like Nightwish, Soilwork, Children of Bodom

At the age of 19, i started going to clubs, or more particularly i started working at one (playing 50-70s music), which i never really got a taste for except a few select tracks. This, however, also got me a VIP Card for the biggest club in Copenhagen, which at the time was a club that had several dance floors, with one playing modern Pop, House etc. while they downstairs on their other dance floor (appropriately named 'The Dance Floor') played Hard Dance, Hands-Up Trance, some Vocal trance etc. and i started dancing to that, and started to like it. This was back in 2006-2007.

Then the general club scene changed. House and Electro House became popular, and the club i attended actually changed their music style, completely moving away from all the trance/dance music to Electro and House. I thought it sucked. But then, i started to warm to it, and eventually i started to love it, becoming tired of their previous music styles which i can still listen to, but not really dance to anymore. In addition, i also started to warm to their music on their other dance floor, where they play most of the radio stuff, although i never warmed to slow R&B, but Pop and Electro Pop are cool genres i like, as well as general house. Recently I've also

Today i have a severely large music taste. Pretty much all of the DJ's at the club are now my personal friends, and recieving Promo-material from DJ's when you aren't a DJ/producer yourself is a rare honor <3 And I've started to replace my old pirate-collection with legal higher-quality music of the same tracks (most illegal music back then was 128 kbit Joint Stereo og 192 kbit/s Stereo, which is disappointing to say the least). It's an expensive process and time-consuming process, but well worth it.

Most of the genres i listen to a still Metal/Rock/Industrial, Trance, Electro House and new-age Pop, and recently I've become interested My heartchild genres are, however, always going to be Uplifting Trance/Dutch Trance, Vocal Trance, Oldschool (90s) Trance, Hard Trance and Progressive Trance, with some Tech, Melodic and Psy-trance on the side (as well as Electro House). Uplifting Trance is really what i listen to the most, and Sean Tyas is my favorite producer and remixer of all times.

List of all the music genres i listen to currently:
Trance, Vocal Trance, Chillout Trance, Hard Trance, Dream Trance, Uplifting Trance (aka. Dutch Trance or Euphoric Trance), Melodic Trance, Progressive Trance, Tech Trance, Dance, Eurodance, Hard Dance, House, Electro, Electro House, Progressive House, Disco House, Tribal House, Uplifting House, Electro Pop, Industrial Rock, Digital Rock, Industrial Metal, Symphonic Metal, Electronic (not the same as Electro ladies and gentlemen), Electronic Hip-Hop, Psychedelic, Full-On, Progressive Psytrance, Acid Psytrance, Hardbass, Dubsteb, Electrodub, Drum'n'Bass and sometimes some Heavy Metal and Hardstyle.

Yes but, at the same time, not really.

I've always just listened to whatever sounds good at the moment.

Before I was in highschool I was listening to mostly pop and chart music. When I was in highschool, I was hanging around with people who were listening to stuff like Greenday, Nirvana, Offspring, Aerosmith and Metallica and got into alternative music before moving into a period of listening to nothing but really angry heavy metal. That went on for a few years until I had an epiphony one day, shortly after listening to Slipknots "Iowa" (which is a really shit album, I don't care what anyone says) and I just started thinking "why am I am paying £10 to have someone scream at me for 12 songs?" Slowly but surely, my musical tastes have gotten a lot more melodic, listening to more punk, power/old school metal, rock, alternative and indie, even pop music if I find it interesting enough.

I think I've gotten to an age where a lot of newer music bores me stupid, but I usually find enough new stuff when it gets to Music Festival season comes around and I usually find a load of new bands while checking out the stages or just wandering around the festival site.

Well my taste in metal has gotten alot more underground and obscure over the years, 3 years ago I would be listening to Slipknot, who I know find boring and repetitive, but nowadays Summoning and Death are my go to bands for something heavy.

I started playing Bass as well years ago which introduced me to Blues, Jazz and Funk which I would of never got into before

Hell yeah has it changed.

I've gone through several "phases" of music. Beginning from when I was little, I used to like a lot of pop music and started to get into rap. Going forward a few years, I was heavily into D12 and Eminem. Fast forward another few years and you'll find me in my teens, listening to some emo stuff. ( Aiden, Lost Prophets ). Now I'm a full blown oldie. I love a lot of the older rock, mainly from the 60's and 70's. I also delve into grunge ( Pearl Jam are my all time favourite band. ) but I'm fairly open to other types too. I listen to a lot of Jack Johnson and similar artists, because it just fits my way of life. I'm a chill guy and I listen to chill music.

My taste in music basically went like this:

Pop (Early childhood)
Rap/HipHop (Late Childhood to Early Teens)
Techno/Electronica/Dance (Mid Teens)
Rock/Metal (Late Teens)

And it's now (i.e. early twenties) principally rock and metal, but also having an appreciation for the other genres I used to like. Except pop. I've grown to dislike most of it.

A bit,
Teen's- Metal, grunge
Now- Blues jazz and swing bands
... a bit?! That's quite a dramatic shift to me... o_O'

OT: Not sure, I've had an expanding taste in music I guess...

Pre-teen - thanks to my old man, baroque, classical and romantic only, pretty much
Early-teen - in-one-ear-out-the-other pop music, and as above
Mid-teen - replace pop with rock and metal, pre-C19 music as before
Late-teen - Christian rock, alt-rock, metal (no screaming, growling's acceptable), starting to get heavily into baroque music (mainly Bach & Handel)
Early-twenties - Anime themes (which then leads into JRock & JPop), still Christian rock (Switchback is a pretty good band IMO), first get a taste for some types of electronica/ambient stuff
Now - combine everything listed above... except IOEOTO pop music, I avoid it like the plague.

My tastes haven't changed so much as broadened.
I used to be picky but over time I've found examples of all kinds of music which I like...even country music.

I'd say my tastes in music has changed considerably. I don't consider Weird Al a great musician, but I will still listen to him, though not as regularly as before.

Also, I like Rap. I think Country is still low, with the exception of anything before 1996 in the world of Country (So the Conway Twitty stuff on Family Guy is actually kind of nice to listen to).

And I'm getting into original rock, 70s 80s stuff, thanks to a bunch of good friends getting me into it.

So, yeah, considerably.

Once upon a time, all I really listened to was rap and Limp Bizkit. Fast forward a handful of years and now I listen to a hell of a diverse set of music. Death metal, black metal and heavy metal make up the most of it, but I also listen to 80's/early 90's hip hop, some folk music, some nu-metal (nostalgia plays a part here), and stuff. So I'd say "A fair bit" since I still listen to some of my early 'gateway' artists.

I used to listen to the Beatles and Elvis a lot in my youth, a direct result of dad being a huge fan of both.

As I grew up, I continued to listen to them until I had that generic "old musix ain't kewl" phase as a young teen. That disgusting period ended rather quickly when I decided that most modern music was complete and utter shit.

Around the age of 14-15, however, I discovered something amazing - metal. Nightwish and Disturbed became the joint soundtrack of many months of my life, with a few long stretches of non-metal bands like Amity and A Day to Remember.

About 18 months ago I moved back to almost exclusively metal (mainly symphonic/orchestral and power metal).

Nowadays (the last year) I listen to a crap ton of metal and classical music (so many parallels between the two) and, wouldn't you know it, a lot of Beatles and Elvis again.

I guess the moral of this story is, yes, I find that people's musical tastes do change over time, but there will always be strong ties between what you listened to when you were younger and what you listen to when you get older.

Oooooooooooooh you are sooo gonna regret that
But to be honest i dont know, lets find out shall we??? I am gonna post every single piece of music that i personally added to the PC since 1997 and had a stable internet connection up until now. Most of the music i already heard before but for some reason i didn't add it until i remembered they exist, or it was just hard to find. I am not even sure how my memory works anymore so i will post acording how its shown on the file.
