this comes out of curiosity from an topic in the new forums, found here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.131582] and really isn't meant for a flame war, just information from the community at large. i don't know how many people visit here on a daily basis but maybe we could actually get a better test sampling from the original poll

so the question is has your Xbox360 failed?

as a bit of a corollary to the question is did you take proper care of your Xbox 360 before it failed, ie reading the "proper care" part of the instruction manual or at least leaving it very well ventilated

and yes there is a joke answer for those who don't have a 360 but want to see the results

I've had one RRoD after a year or so, and then the replacement one never even started.
However, the third one has been thrown onto a brick patio by an enraged Mother, and it still works!

I've had it 3 times before, and now the warranty's up. I fear for my wittle 360 if the worst were to happen yet again.

Mine red ringed twice.

And when it doesn't red ring it it crashes and gives me read disc errors.

Yup, it failed about 3 months ago and about 3 days ago I actually took the effort to do the towel trick, turns out it worked. GI just did an article on this it said 54% of xbox gamers got the RROD. Granted the faith I have in GI is next to none.

Yes. One me and a friend shared. After seeing the fail rates, I wasn't taking that chance again. Thus, PS3 ho.

I consider myself extremely lucky there because it's usually like I have a gravitational pull for faulty hardware, but I bought the 360 only a month or so after release and it has never malfunctioned all those years.

Damn, I was going to say that. Oh well at least the people know.
I personally don't have a Xbox but two of my friends and one of my dad's friends have had theirs fail on them
