Poll: Have you ever felt a bad pain in a dream?

I have plenty of odd dreams and the recall to remember them well... However, I've never really felt pain. I do, however, wake up with a weird tingly sensation rather than pain.

In one, I had a purple lion as a pet. After some weird events involving me going on a field trip I wasn't supposed to go on via teleporting dentist's chair (most likely inspired by the chair in Myst's observatory, lovingly referred to as such by my family), I was chased into a supermarket by the lion. As he "cornered" me in the last aisle, I realized it was a dream; it was a bit late, though, and he lunged at my neck. I woke up with a really weird feeling in my neck.

Also, I was kind of on the border between sleep and lying in my bed trying to sleep the other day when I had a split-second dream. It was nothing other than me hitting the ground; I don't even remember falling, tripping, or anything else related to the fall; just the strike. I think I had a small panic attack and my entire body felt disoriented, so I started flailing around out of... Fear, I guess, and then I realized it was a dream. It was pretty terrible.

I have, and it was last week, I had a dream where it was a scene from Alien and the chestburster was well, bursting out my chest, and I have quite the imagination so my mind whipped up the worst possible pain I've had/
Could have been acid reflux which is why you dreamed of a chestburster. I had that feeling after waking from a dream where gnomes poured acid into my bodily system.

I fell off a building and woke up on the bedroom floor head first, the rest of my body somewhat upright against the side of the bed.

I also broke my leg in a dream, and woke up with my knee dislocated. Somewhat the same thing I imagine.

I don't have the luxury of dreams anymore (unless I take my depression medicine right before bed, then things get weird). But, the last dream I had I do recall feeling blades stab through the back of me out of my chest. Not pleasant.
Yeah depression ruins dreams, I have AWESOME dreams when I take my anti-depressants before bed (cause I get a shit ton of anxiety)
No, no. I don't have dreams without medicine. I have weird dreams with medicine.
Yep that's what I meant

Three times. I got set on fire (I woke up with a nasty fever), I got sucked down a whirlpool (I woke up with the sheets wrapped around me so tightly that I could barely move, and my arm was twisted oddly), and I fell off a cliff (I woke up on the floor).

i dont really wake up with pain, but i will sometimes wake up in a cold sweat, shaking, breathing erratically, and very tense (possibly to the point of pain).

i had a dream a few weeks ago where i was in a grocery store full of hispanic people, and a kid and a woman directed me to the frozen dessert pizza. when we got there, the setting changed, and we were in a dark room. my view went to a hole with a wire coming out of it. suddenly, it started retracting. they were wrapped around the arms, legs, and head of the boy. he got dragged to the wall, where nails were waiting to spear into him. my view zoomed right onto his throat just as it was pierced by a nail. blood went everywhere. suddenly, I was getting pulled! i was trying to fight it, and I was trying with all my strength to duck my head. just as i was coming upon the nail, i woke up. i was shaking, and incredibly tense. my neck was hurting from where i was trying so hard to lower my neck in the dream (i was leaning it very far forward, so i was probably doing it outside my dream as well). my breathing was very erratic, and i was in a cold sweat.

i don't know if that would be a similar concept to what this thread is about, but i thought I'd share.

Do those moments when you fall off a cliff or slam into a wall and wake up in a shock count?
Whenever you have the sensation of falling while sleeping, you immediately wake up.
yeah that's what I'm talking about. Does that count?
Yes it counts (on some shape or form)
Ok well then that's my vote. :)
I don't know if it counts. I'm not the OP.

I sometimes dream of intense pain and paralysis in my limbs, and for a while after I wake the pain remains. Dunno what it means, but I totally panic everytime, despite its frequency.
Hormone overload probably.

I had a dream where I got shot and had to pull the bullet off my spine with pliers. In the dream, it was excruciating. Imagination-synesthasia?

When I was 9 or so, dreaming that I got blasted by a dragon's breath was quite painful.

I rarely feel pain. It's more feeling in general.
When I dream that I get attacked by a poltegist it's the weirdest and most terrifying feeling ever. Usually it's because I'm feeling myself touching myself (NOT like that you sick perve) or I'm sleeping on something.

In my dreams intense pain just feels like something is applying pressure to the area in question...

At least that I remember...
Pretty much this

I think its just your brain using nerves while you sleep to correspond with the dream

I had a dream that I was in the Mafia during the 40s (I was playing the Mafia II demo way too much). Me and my friends walked into a bar and began shooting up the place. Cops arrived and a big shootout began, and I took a few bullets to the stomach...I woke up to find bruises all over my stomach and had a massive stomach ache.

Yes and it has affected my asthma in real life
I had a nightmare that I was being violently tortured by a man in a pigs-head mask I escaped
and ran and as I was running I ran out of breath. Shortly after I woke up and was wheezing heavily and needed my asthma machine

Not really that. I was once dreaming I was falling, and my body actually felt like it was falling. Then I woke up, snuggled in my blankets, thinking "WTF?"

I was once bitten by a snake in a dream, woke up, and screamed because I was in so much pain.
