Poll: Have you ever played a game with a worthwhile sidekick?

So many games give you sidekicks that it's impossible to care about or like at all. Has anyone played a game wherer this is not the case?

Saints Row 2 with Johnny Gat. Guy is freakin' crazy!

I know he was more of a support character than side kick but then again you could use the bacon to summon him. So my vote would have to be Ford Cruller

I would hazzard Dom and the other gears from GOW2. Not so much GOW1, they were a bit thick there I thought.

Oh and also the companions from KOTOR 2

Alyx Vance. She was an awesome sidekick, I felt attached to her and tried to keep her safe as much as possible.
Same for Mona Sax. (Max Payne 2)

Also your partners in Mass Effect were great, with an exception of Kaiden, he had the endurance of a snowflake.

Alyx Vance is the best partner in terms of AI and such, and also giving you a permanent emotional investment in the game.

Didn't actually played their games,but i heard that Daxter and Clank are pretty good,too.

Yeah I gotta agree, Cortana was a great sidekick, witty charming and overall good to have. I also liked the Arbiter but mostly for his character and not his gameplay.

Mass Effect is another good example, with Wrex, Ash, Tali, Garrus, Liara and (sort of) Kaiden. Wrex and Ash in particular for their characters.

Finally Fawkes in Fallout 3, the uber powerful Super Mutant with a laser gattling gun... like having a tank follow you around.

I loved the scene where he threw you over the chasm in the car...

He wasn't an NPC but my friend Josh and I played some wicked BF2 together. Flying Blackhawks and using them as air cover for people trying to take control points. Good times.
