What do you prefer to use when you want to listen to things on an electric device?
e.g:
an mp3 player (they aren't all just ipods you know), a TV set, a radio, a computer, a console or a CD player.

For me, it's a speaker system. Because although my headphones are much better than my laptop's speakers, they get quite uncomfortable if I keep them in for too long. They're the ones that you have to jam in your ears.

Headphones as in those big unwieldy things commonly associated with fans of hip hop or the earbuds that fit snugly into my ear? And when you say speaker system do you mean a custom set up with subwoofers and the like or the speakers that come with the product you've bought?

Bah it doesn't matter, it's speakers for me as it is just easier to use them from a comfort perspective

When on the computer, I have the music playing on the speakers. When listening to the CD player/IPod, I use headphones. It just works out good that way.

I almost always prefer speakers; the only situation in which I really use headphones is when I need to keep the noise down for others' benefit.

Well. If you're talking about listening to music or some kind of crap like that. Then sure. Speakers indeed. Here I was under the impression that you were talking about gaming. But sure.

Now I'll say why I prefer listening to something with speakers. Because I love by myself, and have no need to be quiet. I can still wear my hat when listening to something via speakers.

But. I think I'll elaborate on why I would vote "it differs" when I still thought this was about gaming.

I usually enjoy headphones most. Firstly because then I get the sound imediately. You know. Close to my ears and all. So I'm a lot better at defining where the sound came from. And since I don't have a surround either, it's hard to determine where the sound comes from when using speakers.
Why this is important you ask? Well. I'm playing a lot of FPS games, and games where you have to be on your toes. Especially the online ones.
But there is also another reason as to why I like headphones a lot more than speakers when playing. Because I tend to hang around on skype with friends when playing. ALso teamspeaking alot too. So I have a need for the mic that's on the headphones. Now I do have the seperate mic too, but I like the headphone one (Probaly like everyone else) a lot more. Because then I can have my head wherever I want, and still be able to talk ...

As to speakers, though. When I'm not playing those kind of FPS, or not hanging on SKype, I enjoy playing music. And I really prefer having my music on speakerl, since it gives me a massively better experience than headphones. Oh and I don't have to be quiet =D

Mostly.

Noise cancelling headphones.

They block out the rest of the world very effectively, the surround sound on mine is more convenient than setting up six speakers too. But mostly it allows me to listen to music or play games without everyone else in the house having to join in.

Speakers. It gives you so much more freedom without having to wear a big unconfortable thing on your head to hear.

headphones all the time.
i use large headphones with a mic on the computer as i can talk and not other people as im in the main room. I also find that, despite buying seperate speakers for the computer that even cheap headphones have better sound quality most of the time.

I prefer headphones all the time but I tend to use speakers on my computer most of the time because the headphones I have hurt my head after a few hours. :(

On computer - headphones that isolate outside sounds, mainly because I have a headset + microphone, so it's pretty kewl.

On my MP3 - speakers, duh. They are easy to use and don't look stupid.

Speakers whenever I can. Because it's a different kind of loudness when you can feel your seat vibrating.

Well, I meant to encompass anything that you might use either headphones or speakers for. Not specifically listening to music or watching TV or playing games, because it might differ between them.

Well, depends on the situation, and the situations speak for themselves really. On the move, headphones in my mp3; at home blasting out of speakers :D

Though I do prefer the speakers.

Depends..

I love the headphones..it can be really selfish, cause i tnd to get lost in the music.

Speakers, well just general, especially if theres no one around me.

I normally like my headphones for the privacy of it, but when my parents aren't home I use the speakers.

I'm ninety-nine percent sure my mom would not approve of the music I listen to... >_>;;

My laptop speakers are gross so I use a pair of $330 headphones I got for uni. They sound amazing and I can wear them for about 3 hours before I need to take a break. I plan on never using earbuds again.

Samey.

Something tells me somebody screaming at the top of their lungs.. "FUCK THESE CHAINS, I AM NO GOD DAMN SLAVE" might just not be normal..

That said, I use my headset exslusive these days. My speakers just sound like shit if I really try and use them and do something else at the same time.. Unlike my headset.
