I was wondering what you all prefered for your day to day use. Whether listening to music, playing games, or watching videos (or anything else). For this, Please assume you are on a home computer doing these things, since portable devices are generally headsets and television/consoles are generally speakers.

I personally prefer my headset. It has a much higher sound quality for my price range and keeps things private.

Both. I use my speakers for general musicing and gaming, other than that, when we havea scrim on or i want to listen to something privately, a good quality headset is where its at. Always just depends on the circumstances and what you are trying to achieve.

Well, a headset gives me more clarity and better sound quality when listening to music/watching a movie, and it allows for more privacy when watching it (Sounds don't get spread throughout the house.) But I listen to things through the speakers whenever I get the chance.

So... Both?

I'm a headset man myself, since my bro watches T.V. louder than a motorcycle engine.

I like using my headset but......my dad is so paranoid he looms over me every time i use them.

my laptop has good speakers though, so its not so bad.

Both but mainly headset. I like the speakers because it has decent bass but gunfire has a habit of waking everyone up.

EDIT: So do swearing 12 year olds.

Headset. It lets me listen to music in the background while nobody who might be within earshot has any idea what I am actually hearing. Oh, and it can be loud too.

Well I love the detail from headphones, as well as being a lot more immersive with spacial distinction in sounds. Often I'll find an enemy in game tracking them with my ears. Feels pretty cool! Spies in team fortress call Hax all the time, it's pretty hilarious. For music, I love hearing little details, isolating the sound helps with that, and stereo seperation makes it easier for me to pick up on everything.

So, uh yeah, I like headphones a wee bit...

95% of the time it's headset. The sound quality seems better plus I have this rather odd but giant pet peeve of other people listening in on my music. It's kinda like how a lot of people are quite uncomfortable having someone look over their shoulder as they type/play/work on a computer.

I always used speaker until my dad finally snapped and handed me a pair of Hi-Def headphones.

I can never go back to the Rat-uh-tat-tat of my speakers now.

Explosions on Call of Duty with the headphones on make me shake a little.

A little off topic, but the best gaming headphones hands down are BestBuys Doctor Dre's Ultimate Custom headset. With those fuckers on I can practically hear the sweat rolling off my soldiers butt cheeks.

Headset, allows me to listen to loud music even in the middle of the night and its very immersive.

Thou who never pulled them out by accident and had the whole house blasted/awaked by 100 decibels at 3:00 am?!

Both. I'd like to use speakers most of the time, but the amount of Bloodbath and Manowar I listen to could cause the walls to physically collapse and upset the neighbours. Well, that and the family would raise a few eyebrows. So I mostly use my headcrabs.

Well, both. If I'm by myself in my house or in my car or something like that, speakers. But if I'm in public or something, then headset for sure--it's only courteous.
