Blimey, there's a lot of six-footers in this thread.

I don't really mind. I'm 5 foot one, which puts me on the little side of the spectrum. I'm always picked to push through crowds at the bar. Apparently smaller is better for that, and because I made the effort, they pay for my drinks. I get the 'cute' card played a lot though, and it is quite fun when I'm temporarily tall (in heels). You really can see more from up there.

Height is important to two groups of people:

1. Tall people
2. Short people

Most in between couldn't give a flying rat's ass.
Oddly, I have been occasionally chided by taller women who are mock jealous that I'm shorter than them. I'm never quite sure how to respond, even when it's a joke, so I end up feeling a bit self conscious about it, just in case.

I don't care about my own height as much as I did - I used to want to be taller, but now I've come to terms with the fact that at least I won't be taller than most guys out there. I'm 5'5, which is a pretty average height, and that's fine by me. But I grew an inch since last year! I used to be 5'4! I try not to think more or less of someone because of their height, but I tend to find small people endearing, and taller people more commanding and impressive and stuff.

I'm 5'8 3/4', So I just say I'm 5'9. Because, really, tacking on the 3/4' at the end sounds damn petty.

My boyfriend is taller than me (5'6" and 6'2"), and I enjoy that simply for the fact it means I feel protected and safe when he holds me. So...I suppose, in a way, it is sorta important for me. <3

I'm around 6'8'' maybe a little shorter, maybe taller. There's no way to be sure because not all mesureing tapes are the same, some are actaully off my just a bit.

Height is not important, and it never will be. The only time it's important is when you go to the amusement park, and the ride only lets people above a certain height to get on.

Anyone who says they're taller than they really are confuse me, because in all honesty being tall isn't that great. I hit my head on freaking smoke detectors, and I've gotten some nasty lumps from door frames.

I always found it quite annoying, how people seem to equate worth with a certain height. Short people are ridiculed, and so are really tall people. Why???? It has no relation to intelligence or attractiveness. The physical advantages and disadvantages usually only manifest themselves in specific situations.

I dont think its a big deal but im six foot six and have people ask me about it all the time so I would say it is a big deal to alot of people.

dude, I know. People laugh at me because I instinctively duck down a little when I enter a door even if its obviously taller than I am. if they walked into as many ceiling fans/ligh fixtures/whatever that I have they would understand.

I am around 5' 8" I think, and height doesn't matter to me unless there is a tall ass who puts things in very high places that I can't reach just to be an ass.

People round up and add one?

I just round up to an even inch (i.e. 5'7.5" = 5'8")

I'm 5'8" by the way. Wouldn't mind another 2-3 inches though.

I'm something like 6' 2" and it doesn't really bother me that much, but I have a friend (who sadly moved away this past summer, but that's irrelevant), and she's barely 5 feet and hates people mentioning her height.

Yeah, it is. Tall people are more successful at everything, and there are stats to back it up.

Then again, I'm 6'2", so I'm biased.
I'd love to see these. Honestly, please show me where you get these "facts".

according to the measuring tape i am five foot seven when i stand up straight.
i am just shy of it but is just better to round up because it is closer to five seven.

for my boyfriend i would like him to be taller than me so he can get stuff up on the top shelf for me and i have a fascination with the tall people.

I'm 5'3". I'm extremely sensitive about my height. When a guy told me I was "the perfect height [for a girl]", I smiled and said, "I know! I can totally knee your balls from here!"

Because I compete in wrestling and BJJ and dabble in Boxing and MMA, I find height very important because knowing someones body type and how to use it and against them is a key element of these things. In those things when you are tall and skinny (like me) you have less strength but more reach in the same weight class, but other than in competition and a real fight it wouldn't matter to the average person.
