Hello fellow escapists! For whoever reads this I wish you Happy New Year(yea it's rather late, but better late than never right?).*

I have a slight dilemma which I hope one of you might help me with. After the New Year's Eve party I decided to play some games when my Logitech G15 suddenly stopped working so then I started looking for some new keyboards to buy and I found a few that were listed in top10 gaming keyboards of 2011.

First and foremost,I play during the night everyday without light in my room so back lighting is important,as well as the "little legs" underneath it that rises the keyboard forward towards me,rather than keeping it horizontally.I keep my wrist on the edge of the table so palmrest is a must.

My total budget that I can afford spending is 100euros.

I know most of you don't bother reading the whole shabang so tl;dr version is: give me advice regarding one of those keyboards that I listed.

Thank you in advance.

PS:(*Tastatura means keyboard in romanian so sorry about that..I copy pasted them from the site I'm trying to buy it from)

Fish one out of a bin like I did. It's lasted 3 years. All the keys work and it even has the little legs.

No palm rests or back lighting though. Surely you don't actually need back lighting?

I've had an standard Ps/2 standard Logi keyboard that ruined my wrist so backlightning/palmrest is a must.

That's a shame, because "gaming keyboards" tend to be a rip off. See if you can get an ergonomic keyboard from Logitech which isn't branded for "gaming".

I have a razer lycosa, and it is a VERY nice keyboard and does it's job, and has nice software.

However, saying that, mine (and everybody elses) do have the odd problem, sometimes a key stops working for no reason until you unplug and plug it back into the USB port, and the touch panel can act on it's own whim sometimes, and refuses to use it's music control buttons.

It's the nicest feeling keyboard I've ever used though, and I don't plan to change any time soon, it does it's job very well, despite the little bugs.

Edit: Also the LED's in it are FUCKING AWESOME! XD

Well, like I said I had a g15 which "survived" 4 years until it finally died so it served me well.I'm inclined towards the G110 because it looks like it's built simillarly, only it lacks the LCD screen.

I've heard Lycosa is quite the dust magnet and I don't own an compressed air tool. Also that the keys are ghosted and unresponsive at time and glossy and aren't quite resillient to hardcore gaming.

I play games 12h/day so there's that to take into consideration as well if the keyboard can "take it".

I'm a heavy duty gamer too, and nah it's not too bad a dust magnet, infact being a heavy duty gamer has it clear of dust quite often xP. But yeah it does get annoying if the keys ghost, but it will withstand whatever you throw at it.
Edit: I play MOBAs a lot which use asdfqwer and a lot of shooters (the obvious wasd), and wasd especially are not faded or worse than other keys, and don't have any more ghosting problems than any of the other keys, it's very resilient to extensive use.

I've eard nice tings about te Steelseries model 6
I also ave a real problem trying to decide wat to replace tis keyboard wit
My demands are rater speciic ater te Logitec iasko
I bougt a Logitec compact keyboard or about 25 USD and it was not a good replacement, sure it worked or a wile but ten it just stopped working completely despite being plugged in, so i decided i was sick o it's design anyway and recycled it wit te elp o a big stick
It ad ridiculously wide, yet compacted spongy keys tat were all in te same cluster, no division exept peraps a 2mm plastic strip between te numpad and enter keys
I constantly mistyped because it was so dierent rom tis Dell keyboard i got wit te computer

Ole aitul, at least it's my ault tat i broke it

EDIT... waaaaitaminute, tat's not ow mine looks, i ave a big normal enter key and a nordic layout

I have a cyborg v.5, which is the less full featured model of the v.7 i've had a really good experience with cyborg products--i use that keyboard and a RAT5 mouse, which have both proven to be quite durable. I have even tossed the keyboard in a duffle bag when going home from university for a weekend with no ill effects when i couldn't find the box. Definitely recommend the v.5, not sure about the v7 but cyborg makes good products

Razer knows their stuff. However, I really do enjoy my Logitech G15. But they didn't optimize the WASD cluster and sometimes when I try to run the signals cancel each other out. I'd go with a Razer.

I have a Razer Blackwidow, and really I can't recommend it enough. It has microswitched keys, and is quite expensive, but it's sooooo old school. The keys are a little noisy, but the most responsive keys I've ever pressed - it's like an old IBM Model 3 keyboard - or one of those Cherry keyboards, chunky, clicky, and reliable. There is a pro version of the Blackwidow with lit keys, personally I have no problem seeing them as the letters are quite bold - I don't miss the lit keys on my old Logitech G12. A subtle lamp would be better for your eyes anyway, don't make lit keys a priority, because it's just some more to pay and some more to go wrong, for very little benefit IMO.

For me, I just don't like most keyboards, they make them far too cheap these days... in fact I threw out about 10 brand new keyboards at work because they were so cheap and nasty - about £4 each, so it just goes to show how much extra we pay for a 'gaming' keyboard. I hate Logitech keyboards (G series at least), the keys are too soft for my liking - but if your keyboard is broken, maybe they'd replace it for you - Logitech do have a reasonable customer service system, they might exchange your G15 for free.

I have a Sidewinder X6 and I love it. I got a lot of crap from friends when I got it because they don't consider Microsoft as a serious choice when it comes to gaming peripherals.
The backlight is possibly the best I have ever seen. Being able to set the brightness with an analogue dial is really nice.
I like being able to shift the numberpad to the left side as it lets me centre my keyboard on my desk more. It is also really good to be able to remove it when space is an issue at LAN parties.
The X6 has a really nice wrist rest, in my opinion it is one of the most comfortable rests I have used.
The media keys work well as the drivers are Microsoft drivers that work with anything that installs on Windows. A lot of my friends are having problems with Logitech media keys on iTunes currently although I can imagine it will be fixed soon.
The Microsoft Intellitype software that is used to manage settings/macros is nice to use (especially the macro manager).
The only thing that you may not like is the lack of the little feet on the X6. I will be honest in saying that it really annoyed me initially and it still annoys anyone else that uses my computer. But I have completely gotten used to it and now whenever I use a keyboard anywhere I always fold in the feet because I prefer the keyboard flat. In actual fact having the keyboard flat is more ergonomically friendly and is better for your wrists so I recommend you stop using feet anyway.

EDIT: I have read somewhere that the X6 was actually designed by Razer under license for Microsoft. I will post a link if I can find a source to that knowledge.

Thanks for all the help/advice guys(girls).

I think I made my decision, but most probably it's a tie between Cyborg and G110.

The similarities between my old G15 and G110 are fairly equal(-the LCD screen) + it has good backlightning and backfeet behind the keyboard to keep it towards me.

Expect to have to buy a new keyboard in another four years. I'll still be here with my mechanical keyboard not even a third of a way through its life.
I don't have access for such keyboards in my country(the ones you mentioned). So rather than pay more than half price for the shipping from another country I'd rather stick with what I have available.

Go for the Logitech G110, I'm using it right now and it's fantastic. The backlight is nice and has some colour customizability, the media controls work great with any player, the programmable G-keys are extremely useful for macros or program hotkeys outside of games and work with a profile system so that you can have a different s4et of keys when running in each specific application. Not to mention that I've been using logitech gaming gear for years and it's quite durable.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the feet...they work, I'm using them.

I use a USB Keyboard I got for 3 bucks at a thrift store. To me if it works, it's good enough. But then again I'm a real stickler for cash and rather poor soooooo yeah.

Get one with palm cushions if you use macros commands a lot... mine always hurt after an intense night of gaming.

High-end keyboards are rip-offs. Unless you play games that require a ton of hotkeys, just grab a cheap one. That's what I do and they work just fine.
