I hated all of the math courses I took, but in retrospect, it was worth it. Math is a lot better when it actually represents something, and I wouldn't have been able to take the statistics classes that I took later on if I hadn't taken the extra math courses in high school.

Maths, it starts off so easy that you don't need a calculator.
Then it gets tricky and the numbers get bigger so you need a calculator all the time.
Then it gets even harder but the calculator becomes useless again!

I'm currently in 2nd year of a Mechanical Engineering course and i hate maths. It's not difficult, it just looks bloody impossible and none of the lecturers will point out the universal method for you.

It was okay the only reason I took calc and still do in university is because it's a program requirement. I still have trouble see where this is going to come in handy later on.

So much of it is worthless, luckily I've designated math as my 'sleep period' so I don't pay attention anyway.
Maths isn't worthless. Everything you learn you use in the exams and the qualifications are not worthless.

I enjoy maths...
I all honesty, how many of us who are not in a science or engineering career can honestly say they've used cosign forumula or any kind of alegebra in general, at all since school?

Algebra I: Don't remember.
Geometry: Taught myself, got 102% of the class and sat listening to my iPod 90% of the time.
Algebra II: Payed attention first half, then got a graphic calculator and programmed it to do my work for me.
Trig: Programmed it to do my work/was distracted by a 4x4 rubix cube.
AP Calculus: Didn't understand it much more than the teacher did. Last third of it we sat there and watched Numb3rs for the rest of the course.

I am a Mathematics Major. If you ever forget how to FOIL/Expand/PEMDAS I will hunt you down and slap you in the face so hard that you travel back in time and repeat Algebra I.

It's cosine. And if you plan on building anything triangular in your life, you will need this.

just can't think that abstractly.
Abstractly? I don't consider maths to be remotely abstract, more cold and logical.

OT:

Maths can either be exceedingly dull or thoroughly enjoyable, the latter is a rarity and usually has something to do with a certain attractive teacher...

I was close. And no I wont. I will need a protractor and quality supplies.

My entire experience with math classes was to sleep through the class, bs the homework, and then ace all the tests. That changed a bit when I got into AP Calculus BC, but not by much.

I hate math with a passion. Don't get me wrong, I like logical stuff, and I'm certainly not artsy, but algebra and such is just so ILLOGICAL. "What is the height of a wall if a 15 ft. ladder's base is 3 ft. from the bottom of the wall?" my answer: "get a tape measure and find out". I love practical math such as multiplication, but some of this shit just grinds my gears.

I have dyscalculia. I had to retake algebra once or twice in every school I went to. & I have already forgotten everything I was taught about it.

By the time I got out into the real world, I had no use for algebra at all & I was forced to PAY for those college algebra classes. I demand a refund!
