algebra: easy, geometry: easy, trig: easy, pre-calc: very hard, calc: horribly evil.

just can't think that abstractly.
Abstractly? I don't consider maths to be remotely abstract, more cold and logical.

OT:

Maths can either be exceedingly dull or thoroughly enjoyable, the latter is a rarity and usually has something to do with a certain attractive teacher...
I WISH...... all of my math teachers were either fat....or guys.....*sigh*

Math:you gotta do, what you gotta do.
-Just try to take good notes and always do your homework. If you're not getting it, get some help. Don't focus on the thong of the hot chick in front of you. This is my advise. Use it wisely.
This is good advice. Very good advice. You should take it. :)

It wasn't hard at all for me, just keep track of what exponents are with which variable on which side of the fraction bar, and some fundemental rules

I'll tell you from a point where I am at. I'm an electrician, you technically use algebra in a days work but it is masked by real work. if you're worried about using algebra all the time in a work day like the school system told me I would... they are lying cockbags that must be shot... promply.

WHERE CAN YOU FIND ONE
I don't actually know. A friend of mine has one though, I'll see if I can get the make off him.

You aren't allowed use them in class anyway, they're too good. With my casio, you put in things to be graphed, and it gives you a graph table. With the one he has, you put in the things to be graphed, and it prints the graph out for you in about 10 seconds. Good ones are pretty expensive though.
His calculator kinda sounds like the Texas Instruments calculator that my teacher used in high school. If I remember correctly, she said it cost her about $150. That piece of tech could do everything though... she could hook it up to her computer and print off the graphs that the calculator came up with. And it even had some old games on it, like Tetris!!

Yes, because apparently they want to teach us our ABC's at the same time...

OT: If you don't understand something, don't wait until the last minute in an "Oh no, I'm gonna fail!" panic. Ask your classmates for help, ask your teacher, go to tutorials, and if need be, get a tutor. I was failing Algebra myself back in 9th grade. I got a tutor and was able to pass the class with a 95. Hearing it in a different perspective than your teacher's really helps, especially when it's one on one.

I'm doing a degree in computing. Pretty much everything I do with computers involves some form of algebra.

There's just a moment where the penny will drop, and you'll understand it perfectly and be baffled why anyone couldn't understand it. Personally that happened about 4 months after I dropped out of A level Maths...but it did happen eventually.

In the majority of career fields however anything past the most basic forms of algebra are pretty much useless. So don't sweat it too much.

STOP BEING SO BAD AT MATH!

In all honesty, I thought algebra 1 was crap (took it in seventh grade). But then I took geometry(8th) and then I was like "WOAH OWESUM" and then now I am in Algebra 2 honors(9th) and I enjoy it, but then again I enjoy math in general.

I suggest doing some outside research, cause it might be more interesting if you know why certain things significant besides people telling you they are. That's how I really came to enjoy it. Every single aspect of math is connected to every other aspect of math in some way shape or form. So if you learn why something is important in a more advanced way then what you are learning in class, you might be slightly less bored.

Then again, you just simply might not like math.

My theory on this is "if you don't understand something, then drop it" so I did! So rather then struggling with something I hate and don't understand, I ended up dropping maths and all my problems were solved!

I literally got 103% as my final algebra grade, it wasn't difficult for me, at all. It is mostly just moving things from side to side.

If you hate algebra, and you think its useless it will be. If you pay attention and actually learn something, it will give you many more options later on when you get to the relevant stuff, like calculus. Even if you don't use it in your career, it is still nice to understand how the world works.

Note: Brains develop differently and at different times. Algebra is easy compared to calculus, but i thought it was hard, and I think calc is easy.

Algrebra is good cos its likely to be useful every now and then.

Calculus is what got me. I was so bored cos "theres no way this is applicable". Fast forward 5 years and I've started to apply it to my research...

Bugger... I wish I payed attention... I need to relearn it all...

All the power to you if that worked for you. Granted, that method won't work with everyone.

I was good at math until 6th grade. What happened in 6th grade? Well, at the end of the year I was told I failed the class, with an 86%. Wait, what? The teacher said she felt I could have done better, and just didn't try. Now shouldn't that show that I was GOOD at math? I didn't try and still passed with a B? And never mind the fact that I missed a ton of school since my father feel ill in October and then died later that year. So I had to repeat the same class the next year. Well, since I already knew it all, I just went through to book at the beginning of the year and did it all, and slacked off the rest of the year. After that, I sucked at math because I forgot to do all the Algebra I had learned. So when high school came, I did the bare minimum for math since I had hated it so much. Now I am terrible without a calculator. And anyone who tells you you don't need algebra is lying. I have to use it every day at work.

Wow, lol, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that "I liked it" was the top choice for escapists. My guess is you guys are mostly math people (I am NOT).
