I personally found algebra far too simple to be interesting, calculus was alright though.
Don't be a cocky dick.

I'm always bored and tired as fuck, so I don't do to well. The one semester that I actually tried I got a low A, so you could try my approach. Most people can actually do it, it's just that most peoples attention span (me included) is that of a goldfish.

I literally slept through all of my high-school math classes. They were my first class in the morning, and they were boring as hell. Perfect opportunity to catch some shut-eye. And guess what? I passed those classes with flying colors.

Hoo boy, you think maths is hard now, I have to do maths as part of my course in college, and it's a flipping nightmare. Fourier analysis and vector calculus especially are just bananas.

I slept through it.
AND PASSED EASILY!

But I think math is just my strong point. Just do the homeworks and you should be fine.

get as much experience as you can, look up examples on the internet, get a few different books since each book has it's own way of explaining things.
More experience gives you more confidence, and you soon find patterns.

Do your homework, and you will get a good grade. Don't do your homework, don't complain about your bad grade.

It's really that simple, you don't need to be smart for calculations at all. All you need to do is put in the practice. It takes no intelligence.

The homework will run you through pretty much every scenario you can expect to run into on a test. Do your homework, and you're prepared. If you get some wrong, just compare your work to the answers. If you don't understand the theory at least memorize the steps and you'll get it right and you'll be fine, the understanding will probably follow after enough practice.

You won't need to actually understand mathematical concepts until college classes ask you to apply math to find a solution instead of just giving you a problem and asking you to calculate an answer. If you're not planning on a math-centered career, then all you need to know is the calculation. And even if you're not going into a math-centered career, you still need to at least know algebra FFS. Even graphs.

Even a landscaper needs to know how much profit he's actually making so he can figure out what he should charge. /EVERYBODY/ needs to understand how interest rates work so that they can figure out what kind of mortgage they can support and how much savings is necessary to retire someday.

People today from ages 20-30 probably won't get any help from social security when they're at retirement age. The only way they can retire is if they prepare in advance. If they don't understand compound interest, they will be 75years old and still working at walmart just so they can have healthcare. Compound interest is so powerful that you can invest 8k by the end of highschool (that's 2k per highschool summer job) and retire as a millionaire! (Just dump 8k into a Roth IRA account, toss it into a index fund and withdraw tax-free at 65). The earlier you save, the less you have to save because the interest will work for you. Even small savings at an early age translates to huge amounts of money. Start saving for retirement as soon as you get your first job.

Everybody needs to understand Algebra at a minimum so they can identify the necessary amount of savings, and solve to find the rate of savings and required rate of return needed so that they can hit that goal. Everybody else will be end up old and poor.

I'm not bad at it, I don't enjoy doing it much so it kind of balances out.

There are way too many exclamation marks in the title to justify this threads content.

Well you ought not to be so easily offended by people with (as you say) abnormal attention spans. I agree with you on your point that it's wise to try to do well. Of course, seeing as how the majority of people in this thread have no love of mathematics, I might venture that the true failing here is in the quality of public education and not in any personal defects. If math was taught in a more interesting fashion then people would be more interested in it.

Under normal circumstances I'd give a speech about the progression of math through high school and college.

But I've seen the school threads you've made on this forum, so for you my advice is "either get an attitude adjustment and a work ethic or else learn how to use a mop for when you're working as a McJanitor because you wasted your chance to become an educated, intelligent, functioning member of society."

I get it. You're 14. You're reaching that age where you recoil instinctively from a challenge and want things to be as easy as they were when you were a little kid (and I suspect you're in dummy classes if you're 14 and just now discovering algebra, something normal kids get in middle school). You thought the pubes and dick growth was all fun and games? Nope. Sign of adulthood and with it comes acting like a real man, not the kind of "man" that beer commercials and hip-hop videos claim is what manhood is.

tl;dr version for our illiterate friend here: Time to man up.

I was good at math until 6th grade. What happened in 6th grade? Well, at the end of the year I was told I failed the class, with an 86%. Wait, what? The teacher said she felt I could have done better, and just didn't try. Now shouldn't that show that I was GOOD at math? I didn't try and still passed with a B? And never mind the fact that I missed a ton of school since my father feel ill in October and then died later that year. So I had to repeat the same class the next year. Well, since I already knew it all, I just went through to book at the beginning of the year and did it all, and slacked off the rest of the year. After that, I sucked at math because I forgot to do all the Algebra I had learned. So when high school came, I did the bare minimum for math since I had hated it so much. Now I am terrible without a calculator. And anyone who tells you you don't need algebra is lying. I have to use it every day at work.
where do you work
I'm a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Specialist. I have to use algebra in figuring out friction loss in hose lines and drip rates/ bolus infusions for patient medications. It is used quite frequently in emergency services. I wish I would have worked harder at it in school. On the plus side, I'm usually just teaching other guys to do it on the fire dept. since I don't usually run the pumper and am one of the ones inside the fire.

Basically if you know what to do and understand the material, its easy.. Er at least that's how I found it to be. It can be boring though if you're not someone who has a huge interest in math.

Math is not my forte... I struggled with it, but i still had to pass, so i did.
Just try and remember the formulas, when to use them, and you should be fine.

Finished with one of the highest grades in the class (or the highest, in some cases) all the way through elementary school, high school and college. Easy stuff.
