I used to trade my games. Don't anymore. I used to have this huge collection of GameCube games, but then we sold my GameCube so I thought I wouldn't have a need for them anymore so I traded them away. Then we got a Wii a couple years later and, of course, I really wanted to go back and play some of my old GameCube games but I traded them all away. There were about 10 or so games worth a lot of money and I'm not willing to go back out and buy them again, so I lost all of those great games for about $50. Not worth it at all.
Now I keep every game I have. Even the ones I haven't played in months. I might always want to go back and play it and I want to have that option. Plus the games I would be willing to trade would get me about a dollar and I feel like it's worth it to just have in my collection. Trade-ins are designed to rip you off.

depends, there are some games that are just...not replayable, such as heavy rain, i enjoyed the hell out of them the first time but after that?
next to useless, and those are the games i trade in usually.
granted i buy alot of games on steam these days so no trading in...but fortunately i research the hell out of them before i buy them so i know i'll like them. (plus steam sales are very persuading)

If you bring them to Gamestop within a couple months of release, you can easily get $20-30 for them. I wish I didn't have to, as I often get urges to play some old game or another, but in order for me to be able to afford more than a couple new games a year it's necessary.
There's nothing ethically wrong with it btw, it's no different than sharing games with a friend. No creators of any other product in the world ***** about sharing as much as video game developers/publishers.

I never trade games unless I don't like the game. What if I wanted to play it again in a few years? Now excuse me I have some Donkey Kong Country to play.
Gamestop is useless. I'm not going to grab a good game I want to trade. Trek all the way in to my nearest gamestop. Which is fucking miles. And then talk to clearly zombiefied teenager that started to hate me as soon as I walk through door. Give him the game, get the game rejected because of some arbitrary reason. Or get literally not enough money to get the bus back home, or trade it in for another game that is worse than street cleaning simulator.
It simply isn't worth it. So I think i'll just stick with trading through my network of friends. We are happy to swap games between us, play them for a while, then give them back.
Oh, and because we do that. Apparently we are pirates and destroying the games industry. Yarr.
