I am against homosexuality. Part of the reason is because I am christian and in the Bible it clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord.(in Leviticus)
I suggest you do some studying before you quote Leviticus as your reasoning. Because if you quote one part of it, I expect you to hold fast to every part of it. I'm sure you also think slavery should be legalized, according to Lev 25:44 "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves". And also how eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev 11:10 "And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you") and that eating pig is also forbidden (Lev 11:7,8 "And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you." ).

Please tell me you also follow these rules.

I by no means hate gay people at all I see no reason for it at all, and God tells to only hate the sin but love the sinner
It also is definately is not gentic because I know a pair identical twins, one is gay and the other is not. If it was genetic they would BOTH be gay . Homosexuality is a choice, you chose to be gay.
Right.

1. Homosexuality is NOT a choice. I'm a lesbian, I battled with my sexuality for years, trying to convince myself that I was straight, hadn't met the right man, etc. Fact is, men repulse me. Women turn me on. I don't choose the way my body reacts to other people. I was very religious, but I could not force myself to be straight, because I am not.

2. As for Leviticus, it also demands animal sacrifice (1:9), no contact with menstruating women (12:19-24), advocates slavery (25:44), calls shellfish an abomination (11:10), forbids cutting the hair around the temples (19:27), touching the skin of a dead pig (11:6-8) and wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (19:19).

What do you have to say about those?
This may come across as being waay to nosy, I'd like to ask a question, if I may?

When you say that men repulse you, is that in a strictly sexual sense or do we just repulse you in general? If the first, well, that's understandable. If the second, then, how do you make that work?

I only ask because, as a straight dude myself, I can't say that guys repulse me. I'd not have sex with one, but I sure don't find us repulsive. So I just wonder in what sense you are repulsed.

And if this is none of my business, you have my sincere apologies for being so damn nosy. :)

This thread really doesn't need to exist. Anyone who doesn't "support" homosexuality is right on the same level with those who don't "support" ethnicities other than Caucasian. Racism and Homophobia should not be tolerated.
Well said. I agree. And I'm for homosexuality. It is horrific that some people still discriminate these people for such a small thing.

I am completely indifferent to homosexuality, as a concept.
I see nothing wrong with it, and as an asexual, I don't really like it either.
Regardless, I do support the freedom of any individual who is a homosexual to do whatever they want with their significant other, regardless of what bigots and homophobes say.

There is nothing inherently wrong with it, and it is overall neutral (so long as the more intimate acts of the involved parties are not performed in public, for any kind of illicit sexual act, straight or gay, should be kept private), so I see no reason for all the consistent and uneducated hatred that is commonly propagated by bigots, homophobes, and anyone else that can be brought under the classification of "a douche bag".

I have no problem with someone being homosexual.
I have no problem with them protesting their homosexuality to make people more aware.
I also have no problem with them making homosexual jokes toward me, or even advances.

What I DO take issue with, is the way, some homosexuals somehow think being gay gives them the right force a particular homosexual lifestyle down one's throat. Yes, I'm talking about "being camp". By all means, be romantically involved with someone of the same gender, by all means protest and try to make it more socially acceptable, but for the love of all that is holy, don't go around with your fucking lady-bags and talk in a terribly false and girly voice.

If you do that you may as well just get a fucking sex-change, which I also fully support. I just don't like femininity to the extreme in men. It find it horribly off-putting. Actually wait, I don't mind that either, just do it away from me.

I believe the "behind closed doors" line works well here.
Question: have you actually met someone belonging to the aforementioned group?

I'm betting you haven't.

The question is simple. Don't forget to add WHY you feel the way you do.

For my own vote, I'm a strong supporter of homosexuality, though I'm by no means gay myself. I firmly believe that, as long as it's not hurting anyone else, people should be able to live their lives however they damn well please. This includes being able to love and marry whomever they please.

So, escapists, How do YOU feel? And remember, tell us why you feel that way.

EDIT: Just so people will stop spouting it off, I realize that this is rather poorly phrased. I think most of you can glean my meaning though, without needing to point out that I could have worded this differently.
This is an extremely loaded question. I can promise you that anyone that comes in here and says they are against it, is going to get hammered by people, even if that is THEIR choice. Even though them being against it, by no means should imply they want to see anyone of that lifestyle hounded, persecuted, or anything else. Maybe they just dont agree with it.

I have nothing against anyone of that lifestyle. Its their choice. But MY feelings towards it are I am against it.

You, my dear, have officially won the internets. Congratulations!

OT: I guess i'm indifferent. I don't have a problem with it, and may even be a tad bi myself, but I don't really know that I could call myself a supporter of it. What does that even mean? Love who you want, fuck who you want; it has absolutely no effect on me.

Speaking as someone who is and has an identical twin. True Idents are much rarer than most people think. Second our DNA is close enough that we can easily be mistaken for each other should something come up we're both deputies/cops so our DNA is on file and I know when mine was being filed in the NDIS it showed that I was him at first. We both have lupus and are dyslexic. Our fingerprints are different though because that occurs in the womb or something and since about age 8 we always made it a point to cut our hair differently. Different tattoos too. Also, we have magical powers.
Sorry... granted that was a pretty rare and exceptional case, I was just trying to show that identical twins can still be different on a genetic level.
Eh, not mad; those were just fun facts. My main point was that being a homosexual isn't genetic but it's not a 'learned behavior' either. It falls into a third category of simply 'being' .

Which would be fine if it worked in reverse. It doesn't.

As it is, you have legs. Other people have no responsibility to cater to your irrational desire not to see certain things. Do what most gay people do when they're disgusted by heterosexual affection. Use those legs.

Why do 'mincing queens' annoy you anyway? Do they keep you up all night by having loud cocktail parties or something?
So many times Ive rewritten my reply, trying to keep my tone civil in the way you so epically failed to do.

To your first point I say I guess just like I have to gay couples have to chin up and deal with it- its incredibly rude for couples to have a public make out session in any case.

And to your second point I have a hard time understanding why some homosexuals feel the need to turn their backs on their masculinity, if Im honest it reminds me of self-mutilation, which is undoubtedly gonna make you go all supercillious and indignant again.

Anyone else kind of weirded out by the number of anti-homosexual votes on THIS site? I mean, it's a tiny number but still, weird here.

I guess I support it the same way I support heterosexuality?

As far as individual people go, I really don't care whether they are gay or not, unless I fancy them.

This discussion reminded me of this. It pretty much sums up my feelings about bigots using an ancient text to justify their prejudice.

Fair warning, this song has foul language and might offend you if you're religious. I'm not even joking, if you can't take a joke don't watch this.

I adore that sexy Australian bastard.

In other news, I am rather tired of this topic coming up. People will answer one way, and another. It's just trawling through a thread of the same 2 posts spoken in slightly different ways. Ocassionally something interesting will come up, but still. Bleh. I'm going to add to the swamp of answers: I am a strong supporter of homosexuality because I'm bi myself. If your religion is against it, good for you. If you dislike the idea of two men or women together, good for you. If you think it's genetically or physically wrong, good for you. If you keep your homophobic business behind closed doors, we'll keep our homosexuality behind closed doors. Although I don't see anything wrong with a gay couple kissing or holding hands in public just as a straight couple would.

I'm indifferent. I think that if people are gay, in no means are they doing wrong by being so, it is ok. But I see them like I see straight people,so I support neither side in it. Well, unless they are being critisied in a big manner for it, then ill defend them with all my might!

I personally think the whole camp thing is fabulous! (couldn't resist)

As far as I know, having a 'girly voice' is uncontrollable. Theres a guy I work with, and as far as I can tell his campness (and he is VERY camp) isn't forced or put on. It's just the way he is.

In the same way, there was a teacher at my school who had a camp voice but was undeniably straight, as in he had a wife and children.

I would have thought that many gay men would not live a camp lifestyle if they had the choice. It instantly tells everyone nearby that they are gay, and can lead to some nasty situations. Coming back to the guy I work with, a customer started shouting at him for speaking the way he does, and it routinely get him into these sorts of situations. I'm sure if he could, he wouldn't act the way he does.

Pretty vague subject that's been done before, but oh well. I support it because I realize it's not my place to tell people how to live. Every gay person I've met was nothing but nice. I really have no reason to oppose it.
I agree with this guy word for word.

It really is an overdone topic, though.

Ok then.
I have to say, I don't actually know why I'm gay, looking back I guess I always was, even when I was dating guys. And I've had a lot of people try to argue that my... shall we say 'terrible' relationships with men are why I'm gay, but looking back I was never really attracted to guys in anyway, I was more just trying to act how I thought was 'normal' and repressing my true feelings, probably for fear of what my family would do if they found out.... in fact I'm still scared by that thought, but I got tired of lying to myself I guess.

SUPPORT it? No. Accept it? Yes.

Frankly, as long as it doesn't directly affect me, do whatever you want. However I hate the attitude of pro-gay people as much as anti-gay ones. So convoluted and obnoxious, especially the younger demographic that seemingly wants everyone to be gay just like in their uber-kawaii whateverXwhocares shipping fanfic.

Campness annoys me to the hilt - It's an amusing trait to some degree (see Graham Norton), but taking it to a ridiculous level pisses me off something awful (see Louie Spence). Obviously not every camp person is actually gay, but there's a strong correlation.

Long story short, be gay, be lesbian, be whatever. I don't care as long as it doesn't affect me directly, and you don't shove it in my face like it's "different" or important.

I support a persons right to be homosexual.

I do not support a persons right to be a Caricature of the gay stereotype and as such have no unique personality whatsoever.

I also don't support them groping me.

I especially don't support being told that "everyones a little gay", shh go away, I've let you be what you are, let me be what i am ok?

So any time a British person gets humiliated, I can go "take that British!"? Or any time a man does something stupid, it reflects upon all men? Sorry dude, but in saying that, you are exactly the same as he is.
