Those are called floaters, they are relatively benign pieces of debris caught in the vitreous fluid in your eye. I say relatively because being able to see them even in dark situations along with a drop in eyesight prescription indicates possible future detachment of your retina. I wouldn't be able to read a sign or watch tv from across the room. But I could get by pretty easily.
Sometimes when light hits my face in a certain way, I can actually see little black squiggles, like my eyeballs are covered in scratches.
So that's cool.
