I usually get mine on CD but download the odd track here and there from iTunes. I admit I have illegally downloaded music before but I rarely ever do it as I usually just stream it off youtube if I'm desperate to listen to it. I'm curious to know how many people still buy CDs rather than download.

For the most part I buy the cd. I used to download albums that were simply out of distribution or really really hard to find, but it's been a while since I've downloaded anything.

Yeah I actually download a lot of video game soundtracks for free but those are practically impossible to buy through legal means (for the most part).

I buy all my music, alot of it digitally nowadays. I did illegally download a long time ago, but stopped when about 4 years ago. Decided it was morally wrong etc etc etc.

I'd buy more CDs but I have little choice in a town, so I have to use Itunes etc.

I download trance live sets or podcasts (Like ASOT). I don't listen to any other music other that Trance/Progressive. Plus I have my own (crappy) DJ mixes that I transfer to my MP3 player and learn from past mistakes.

Mix of the above, if I can't find it anywhere I usually just use the youtube downloader and convert to mp3. I should probably get stuff off itunes, but that would require breaking the copy protection with my stereo mix to put the music on my zen and I'm lazy

I buy CDs usually one or 2 ever week or so, nothing like tearing the 3-4 layers of plastic of the CD and that new cd smell.

I buy CDs, usually via Amazon. I like listening to music while I drive, so I pretty much need a CD, and illegal downloading is...well...illegal.

I usually buy the CD. Two reasons: one is cos I want to listen to it in the car, and those ipod radio frequency things are terrible. And the other is I like giving my support to bands I love

I've promised to myself that I won't pirate any more software (and I've deleted my old illegal stuff), and I haven't used a CD for years. Only legal download remains.

Another thought: Is streaming on YouTube technically legal?

Youtube And Mediaconverter.org, though occasionally I will use Itunes for certain songs you just cannot get from Y and M (Mostly ELO songs).

I'm one of "those" people who get most if not all of their stuff legally. The other music I get is emailed from friends, and I don't know where they get it from.

If I'm going for CDs, I generally stick to looking for used ones at the Spin Street near my house. Otherwise, I use Amazon a lot. It tends to be cheaper than iTunes a lot of the time.

I buy stuff I know I will like, especially if I want to support the band. For new music though I will download something to try them out. If I like it enough, Ill buy it, if its only ok, ill keep it saved, but nothing more will come of it. The past few months I found a wonderful wonderful band called Between the Buried and Me, I checked out some videos on Youtube to scope them, and couldn't make my mind up on them, so I downloaded some of there Cd's and fell in love. What happened next? Well I walk into my local cd store and find one of the cds I fell in love with for 10 euro. I bought it without hesistating because I knew how good it was. I have fuck all money but I knew this was worth it. Hence why I bought it.

I have no problem paying for cds I know are awesome. My room is full of cds to prove that. But downloading 'illegally' isn't all bad too. It exposes smaller bands and while they might not make that much money, they do make fans which is way more valuable.

I'm just a big music fan really. If I could buy every cd I would.

I still think this is awesome. You'll be one of the ten people of your generation still doing this.

OT: Mostly I buy CDs, because they are generally just as cheap as the download, and then I have the CD in case my hard drives crash.

But I have been buying more stuff from the Amazon MP3 store, because they do this $5 album thing where they pick 100 albums and put them on sale for $5. The titles are really random, but every month I find a couple I'd like.
