I sit on my face... Oh wait...

OT: If it's on the floor, on my knees until I collapse face-first into the floor... Then, I lay there until I realize I have to get up something to go to the bathroom or something like that...

If I'm in a chair or something akin to that, then it's either with legs spread because I'm a "dude", "Criss Cross Applesause"[footnote]"Spider crawling down your neck
Stab
Blood trickling down your leg"
*blinks* ...what was I talking about again?[/footnote] if I want my legs to remind me of DNA, or with my right or left leg over the other like I'm some kind of anti-villian, waiting to smoke his candy cigar and laugh like as if he has a plan to get revenge on that one boss in a video game...

In general, I really don't pay attention to it, in general, until either my leg and/or my feet fall asleep or something...

I sit with my left leg under my right because I'm a renegade maverick who does not play by the rules but I get the job done.

I mix it up otherwise my legs start getting sore or becoming numb, depending on the position.

I'll take the misc. option because I sit with my legs slightly extended, ankles crossed, right heel resting on the floor.

I fidget a lot, but that's probably because I work a desk job and am sitting a lot. I usually like to have one foot on the chair under my other leg.

Pretty much like this-

The only things I don't do, is sit on my feet, you know how (typically a girl) will walk over to a couch, put one foot on it and kind of spin and sit at the same time? So the legs are in the classic triangle lock position?

I prefer lounging in the crook of an L-shaped sofa - left foot on the floor, right leg along the short side of the sofa.

I must ask, for which ground-breaking technological advance is this gripping research being conducted for?

I sit in quite a womanly way. As I type this I have my right leg over my left, but before I started I had my left hand hiding underneath the kneepit. It's cosy.

EDIT: Now I'm more tired, so I'm sitting lazily with my legs apart with one leg leaning on the arm of my chair. I've gotten slouchy.

I never sit. I always swimsuit pose. You know, the one where you lay on your side, and prop your head up with one hand? Yyeeaah~ that one.

IF I WERE, such a SQUARE, as to sit. (Not saying I am) The best way for your body, (As sitting isn't a natural position, unlike the previously mentioned position. lllaaadies~) is to sit with both feet on the floor, or a platform. Not to cross your legs. You should also change your position and posture every half an hour as well.

I'm good with propped up on something, except my desk is too low for my legs to be in front of me and retain a good screen distance, so I am essentially parallel to my desk and my shoulder and neck start hurting after a while. Other than that, the default is left leg under my right thigh with the right leg down and bent, my lower body turned slightly outwards to the right. I don't know how I'd describe it if it wasn't how I was sitting right now. I don't know why, possibly so one of my feet doesn't get cold. I doubt there's a rational reason beyond that it works with my low-ass desk.

I think I used to prefer one leg over the other at the shin rather than thigh level, but my wall's close and my desk's low, so that was the end of that.

I usually shift between left-over-right and right-over-left when I am focusing on something Im doing. But if I am playing a game or just sitting to relax I lean back, stretch my legs straight out and cross them by the ankles.

Also you have no idea how many times my schoolmates go, "How can you sit like that when you are a dude!?" when I cross my legs.
Really? It's not a patented female only sitting pose. Not my problem your balls are so sensetive.

One of my favourite sitting positions is not in this poll-- I often sit with one leg folded under me, so I'm practically sitting on that leg.

It gets uncomfortable after a while, at which point I usually switch to a more normal position for a while.

I sit similarly, though to be exact I sit on my foot. So there is a foot between bottom and chair, floor, stool or what have you. If that gets uncomfortable (usually takes quite a while), right leg over left crossing at the knee, and outright crosslegged when on the floor.

I usually sit with my left foot folded under and my right leg outstretched. Kind of how people jump hurdles, only I'm sitting on the foot.

Well, it's not that difficult. I mean, the way I usually do it is simply sit on the toilet and...

Oh. OH!

Sorry, it's one of those days when I'm reading everything in Sean Connery's voice.

ANYWAY.

I fidget in my chair quite a bit, I get tired of any position pretty quickly. But the most common one I take - and hold for auite a while, too - is the slouched ass in front, shoulderblades resting around halfway up the backrest. I like to have both my feet planted firmly on the ground.

I'm not big on healthy posture.

It depends on what I'm sitting on first off and what feels comfortable to me. If I'm on my bed I sit in any position from practically laying down to sitting up straight with my knees bent and my feet flat on my bed and my laptop in between my legs(usually near my legs but sometimes near my feet so I can stretch a bit). Sometimes I do the ballet exercise(well I learned it in ballet but apparently most sports and dance do it so...)of sitting with the bottoms of my feet touching each other and my knees as close to flat on the bed as I can and have my laptop on my lap and sometimes I do the full stretch and put my laptop as far away as I need to lean forward and stretch. Sometimes I lay on my side and put my leg up near my shoulder(I can do it with both but typically it's lay on left side with right leg up near right shoulder) and usually have my arm under my leg and around so I can still type. Sometimes I like laying on my back with my feet up on my headboard(because I have no walls unless I'm on the ground in my room). Sometimes I am hanging off my bed with my head either near or touching the ground either on my back or stomach. Sometimes I am full on sprawled out flat on my stomach with my legs taking up as much of my bed as possible. Sometimes I get in the prior position I just described by doing the splits first and then falling forward and just leaving my legs as they are. I also do that one in the middle of the living room floor. If I'm on the couch it's usually with one leg tucked up under me and the other propped up on the couch so my knee is nearish to my head and sometimes I rest my head on my knee. Sometimes I do that position only with my leg that isn't tucked under me flat on the floor. Sometimes I sit like a "normal" human and have both feet on the floor. Chairs depend on the type of chair and how much mobility I have in them. I am a partial contortionist. If I can contort my body, I usually will. And if I can figure out a way to stretch out my body without having to actually get up I will.

Like a few others in this thread, I shift too often to list just one. More often than not I'll sit left-leg over right-leg resting just above the knee, but I'll sit right over left, ankles crossed, legs stretched all the way out (one atop the other), both feet down (somewhat rarely), upside down on at least one occasion; you know, a little bit of all of the classics.

+1 Criss Cross for me. Plus it helps keeps your legs flexible!

However due to this+having big legs, I hate having to sit "normally" like one would in an office or work environment.

I tend to sit like L from Death Note. I either have both legs bent like he does or I have one in the "cross legged" position and the other one bent up. So I guess I'll vote legs propped up?
