It always drives me crazy when i buy a new bic. i have this absurd OCD habit of immediately pealing off the sticker and removing the metal safety clip the instant that i buy one.

So, what about you?

Edit: Title addition.

I prefer pencils, really.
Or just plain typing.
See, I have really, really bad handwriting, so it doesn't help when I fuck up with a pen and can't erase it.

Same here, but I also have taken to buying the smaller ones in offensive pastel colours, so that people will stop 'borrowing' them and not giving them back. So far, it's been successful, except with the g/f, who steals them anyways.

Bic, like the crappy pens that smears all over the page when your hand brushes across? Gotta get quality pens, brah.

Also, because I sympathize with this Mitch joke: "I bought a seven dollar pen because I always lose pens and I got sick of not caring"

If you're talking about lighters, I use matches. No butane screwing up my tobacco pipe, thank you.

Is this about lighters or pens? If lighters, then yeah, sometimes the OCD makes you wanna peel off the sticker while fiddling around in your pocket. Popping off the metal clip can be a good way to prove the lighter's yours if someone tries to pocket it, and you see it later, by canceling out the "same color" defense.

I have a compulsion to remove stickers from essentially anything. The only time I can accept stickers on things I own is when the sticker goes all the way around something like the label on a bottle.

As for the little metal thing, I NEVER use a lighter before removing it. Also, removing them and especially knowing the way to remove them has always struck me as a kind of "hidden knowledge" that lay-people lack. Kind of like how we all thought we were so cool when we knew the trick to drawing those stupid S things in elementary school (please don't hijack the thread to say that you remember drawing these, EVERYONE remembers drawing these).

I actually love the little pastel ones, i just wish they were full size.

Though i did find a shit-colored brown one a few weeks ago that i'm still using.

Oh oh ooooooh
I don't smoke, so I don't have a preference.

Also, I find it ironic that you are that OCD and still smoke.

I don't see any correlation between the two, most people i know who have OCD are frequent smokers.

QFT, me too. I remember a post in that recent joke topic... something like this:

At NASA, the Americans realised that a ballpoint pen would not work in outer space. After almost a decade of funding, technology etc, they finally produced a pen that would work in outer space, underwater, and on practically any surface.

The Russians used a pencil.
Gotta love pencils.

Changed the title, post was sort of misleading i guess.

Also, Bic makes razors as well.
Couldn't you just change it to "How do you like your lighters?"

I was referring to (and from your post I assumed you were) the type of OCD where they keep things as clean and neat as possible. My mistake.

Not trying to insult or anything, but i think you might be thinking of a germaphobe. people with OCD tend to organize everything in a specific way, and it will drive them crazy if it gets moved out of place, even a tiny bit. this also includes certain processes, such as unwrapping something.

Smoking is a nice little habit to pair with OCD, unwrapping packages in a certain manner, tapping packs of cigarettes to pack tobacco a specific amount of times, flicking ashes after x amount of puffs, timing the exact amount of minutes or hours between cigarettes, it's a nice little niche to fill during your day, always focusing your attention on something so small.

Aha, once again, my mistake.

take the safety clip off, the label usually comes off after awhile too, though.

Though I don't go through Bics very frequently. Mostly only for smoking some ganja with friends on the odd weekend. Not the daily smoker kind.
