Simple enough question; how do you prefer your comics? Silver Age-y and self aware? Dark and gritty? Wacky? Non-Superheroic?
And of course, why.
Personally I don't really have a preference, I lean towards superhero fiction but I find that I enjoy both light and dark fare, but I most enjoy stuff that strikes a balance between the two, like DC: the New Frontier.

And if there's any option that you think I need to add, quote this part of my post and tell me.

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by "realistic". For instance, I love 100 Bullets and Hellblazer. Those are both set in slightly alternate versions of the real world and don't really match the other categories, so I voted realistic/serious. Then again, one is about super hitmen and a huge conspiracy and the other is about a hard-living magician, so they're not nearly as realistic as series based on 'normal' people.

Grimdark? I guess that. Also comedic. It's become a cliché to say, but I like a bit of everything. But my main lean is the darker stuff.

Full of Dangerously Genre Savvy villains for whom I can root. So I guess a combination of Dark and Gritty and Self-Aware.

I love the funnier comics, unless it's more super-hero based; then it depends on the hero.
Who doesn't enjoy a good laugh every now and then?

The only stand alone comic I ever enjoyed was Watchmen. Other than that, I'm not a comic book guy. Only other comics I can enjoy are those that are involved in universes that cover other media (Halo, Mass Effect, etc). I just can't get into them.

If I had to say how I really like 'em, though, the Halo: Helljumper comic is a good example.

I love superheroes, but I love creator-owned comics the best. My all-time favorite is Invincible, but I just like good stories. I love anything by Kirkman, Scalped, Chew, and tons more.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I want something wacky and lighthearted, in which case I'll usually pick up a "Calvin & Hobbes" collection, or wacky and dark I'll go for JTHM (though he'd probably kill me for using the word 'wacky'). If I'm in the mood for action, something like "Wanted". I'm also partial to anything done by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.

Well, considering I love Transmetropolitan, 100 Bullets, Fables, Hellboy, Atomic Robo, The Umbrella Academy, The Dark Knight Returns, V for Vendetta, The Goon, and nearly anything Marvel... All of the above?

"No capes" mostly. Although I do enjoy the odd Batman story and I simply loved Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run.

Why? I prefer complete stories, while most superhero comics seem to drag on forverer, branching into numerous spin-off titles and ripe with retcons. Also, I guess I just like other genres better.

Recent ones. I can't stand anything before maybe 1970.

Other than that I like pretty much any genre as long as it's quality.

I'd been in denial about my love of comics for most of my young life, and have only recently admitted to myself how awesome they are. Therefore, I've only read a few "proper" comics to date, so my opinion is clearly skewed. As of now, though, I guess I tend to favor the dark and gritty, since Watchmen was probably my favorite. I like reading comics that have a greater depth of meaning than you can grasp at first glance, but then again, that's how I like my novels too.

Well, that's a highly unspecific question. However, I'll try to answer it as best I can: I'm almost never a fan of mainstream superhero comics. The entire concept is a bit silly when you think about it, and 90% of the time they're aimed at younger audiences and remain strictly PG-13. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean the story and believability takes a hit every now and then.

I prefer comics that really try new things, and creators who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. Y: The Last Man was immensely interesting. Transmetropolitan is just about my favorite comic ever. Same goes for The Walking Dead, DMZ, Unknown Soldier. They're literature, with something to say, and it's good to see that in a medium that was long derided for being cheap schlock.

Of course, that doesn't mean I don't read comics for entertainment. I love Hellboy, Berserk and the Warhammer comics just as much as the above. I guess it all boils down to what I'm in the mood for. I still usually avoid superhero comics, though.

It's a vague question, so it's going to get a bit of an ambiguous answer.

Hey you missed out on the nostalgia cred of the old jingoistic war propaganda comics like Commando!

I came into this with the following answer in mind: 'Free! But we can't have it all our way, can we?'

Seriously, the trope-y superhero genuinely annoys me, talk about the deep story all you want, I just can't deal with it when he/she looks like a frikking clown.

Thus, I will paraphrase Edna Mode: "No keps!"

What no "Any" or "others" on the poll? I pretty much like most kind of comics well pretty much with funny webcomics or have a humour to it or superheroes comicbook that you can buy.
