I always pronounce it as "boy", I have never heard it pronounced any other way. My family is not big on sailing so I don't know if that is the correct pronunciation.

So how do you say buoy and have you ever been on a boat before?

By buoy i mean the maritime thing that floats out in the water.

ever been on a boat before? that seems pretty random, and i'm fairly sure it's "boy" never heard it pronounced any other way, in fact you often hear in children's books when they distinguish the difference in meanings because the pronunciation is the same

What other way is there to pronounce it?
I guess you could say it's more like 'boyant', but I like to acknowledge the 'u' by saying it more like 'bwoyant'.

I honestly wouldn't really know though, seeing how I've never said the word out loud.

well i was trying to see if there was a link between people saying boo-e and people who have never been on a boat.

for example i say boy or boo-e when im being silly and i have fallen off many boats. i think the number is 4-5 times falling of a yacht in sydney harbour

Well, like I've said, I've never pronounced the word out loud. Haven't really had any need to use it ever, so I have no guarantee that the way I imagine it's pronounced is the right one.
