Poll: How do you watch your anime?

And how I am suppose to do that when the anime doesn't get released here? Like 1% gets released on DVD. 0.01% gets released on TV.

First I "obtain" the anime. Then if I like it, I'll import it from the U.S. or U.K. depending on the series and price.

Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, Niconico (Or whatever the American version is called) etc. there are a variety of officially subbed simulcasts for most of the big releases that come out each season, like Fate/Zero when that came out a couple seasons ago.

Also I believe the most popular fansub group actually doesn't even do the translating, they just use the subtitles from the official simulcasts.

Actually no, I have a subscription at Crunchyroll and I use that to watch anime all the time.

OT: I often discover anime after it's been running for a few years so I don't have to wait for the episodes to come. However at the time I am watching Hayate No Gotoku Can't Take My Eyes Off You which started just a few weeks ago I think.

The tension is definitely increased if you watch it as it comes out. Those series are also the ones that stick with you mosst because you were there when it aired.
Of course, sometimes a backlog comes up, or an old classic slipped through when it first aired.

See, and you'd think that, but I recall nothing about waiting for new Bleach as it came out, yet I'll never forget the weekend I sat down and plowed through NGE.

So there are more seasons and more series of anime coming out. Do you wait for the entire season to come out then pir- purchase it (see moderators? I'm learning) or do you obtain them and watch them as they come out?

I'm asking this because I've never had to wait for anime to come out before and I've watched around 3 lifetimes worth of anime in the space of a couple of years.

I do both of the options in the poll if said anime never comes out to the usa or if I am unsure that I will like to get into this anime and buy it only to be disappointed. If it is on T.V. or a legal website showing, then I will watch it there, but as I said earlier if the only way to see it is through less than legal matters for it will not see the light of day here, then I will watch it.

I will buy something I truely like if I have seen it through legal or less than legal channels. Honestly if it was not for the ability to "purchase" I would not have bought as much anime or books that I now own for said ability to "purchase". Of course many will just "purchase" and never buy, even if they liked it and that makes me sad for it means less chance of said thing to grow.

I mostly watch shorter anime than Bleach, it's too much time and filler for me. Plus, NGE is most definitely a classic at this point.

Whenever I watch anime (which is fairly rare, but not unheard of), I watch it legally, either through steaming or on DVD. I am not that big of an anime fan that I need to watch it right when it comes out.

I mostly watch shorter anime than Bleach, it's too much time and filler for me. Plus, NGE is most definitely a classic at this point.

Good point, and now that I think about it I really haven't had the chance to watch a shorter series I knew would be a classic as it came out (I'm mostly picturing Samurai Champloo here as that was the last one that came out that I could have watched as it came out).

Suppose I'll have to try it some time.

i've been watching anime for 10 years now. When i was starting i was watching whole colmpleted series. Then i just run out of stuff to watch ( well within the limits of genres that i'm interested in). Then i got in to ongoing anime and been doing it ever since. It's like well oiled machine buy now for season to season never missed one in 5 or so years. Check AniDB Calendar for anime that interest me ----> then off to shady part of internets for ep 1

I watch it online every week when it gets subbed. Really need to find a new one to watch, all I have right now is the weekly One Piece.

Usually watch on youtube when the whole season is out. It's not like the 90's where I have to wait a whole god damn week for the next episode to appear.

I watch it on Crunchyroll as a free user. usually, i wait for the series to be completed, then i watch it, just a precaution on the off chance that the anime is cancelled and im going to have to wait a year or so for the dvd release and probably not have the episodes uploaded there, or if it gets pulled to be us only and i will be disapointed.

See, i got into an argument with a friend of mine over this... He thinks its absolutely wrong to "pir-chase" anything, especially shows or games... whereas I do it to see if I like the product then I delete it and if I liked it, I go buy the real thing... anyone have thoughts on that?

well since almost all the shows get legaly streamed off Funimation, hulu, and crunchyroll.... watching legaly is easy and cheap now

and now that the commercial in the ep im watching now is over... back to the anime lol
