Rather surprised a bunch of video game enthusiasts haven't mastered one of civilization's most basic skills which only involves using one's hands.

We were always taught that cursive was proper writing. Non cursive is how children wrote. Now your growing up you have to write like grown-ups. So we did.

I find the concept of "cursive writing is a dying art" to be bizarre. I cant quite comprehend the idea o_O

I usually try to do as much of my work on computer as possible, but I don't have a laptop so I can't take notes or work in school digitally. In the case of school I write partially in cursive and partially in printing, usually one or the other on a particular page rather than just random switching back and forth.

Cursive, at least the way we learned it in school, looked like crap. On top of which, depending on the person writing, it could be nigh illegible. If you were to class it up it would be cool, but probably still illegible.

I write nigh illegibly as it is in plain longhand. Whenever possible I use a keyboard, as my keyboard speed no doubt trumps my penmanship several times over.

I use to write in cursive, and it used to be really legible, but for some reason, the older I got the crappier my cursive got, so now I just right in non-cursive.

But now I write REALLY small, so now teachers fuss about that. -_-'

See that never was the case while I was growing up. It wasn't until late in high-school that I actively decided to use cursive. And I was a huge minority. Just out of curiosity what country were you taught in?

I write non-cursive, whenever I use cursive my hand aches like crazy because I tend to use what teachers refer to as "The Death Grip" whenever I write cursive

I would hav eto say mostly cursive, but when i write, it starts non cursive, then goes to cursive. so it blends in and hcanges in the middle of the word.

I generally either use my computer or print. I can write in cursive, but the cursive I learnt is ridiculously over-complicated and decorative, and hardly anyone I know can read it. So when I write in cursive, it's either scrawly and illegible or calligraphic and illegible. My printing is just as fast (no need for all those loops and flourishes) and very easy to read. Occasionally I use cursive for decorative purposes - like writing on greeting cards. I also used to use it in my diary, for obfuscatory purposes...

Sometimes, though, I'll be printing something in a hurry and find I've changed to using cursive without realising. Sometimes even in the middle of a word. When I print fast, the letters tend to link up - so it's a short step from there to cursive.

Computer. I've almost forgotten how to write normally -- you know, cuneiform on clay tablets with a stylus. If there were no computers, I'd be a hopeless illiterate.

That's an exaggeration, but really, my handwriting is god awful.

Cursive

It just became a habit in 5th grade because my teacher was such a *****. You had to write everything in cursive, even if you wrote your name in print on the top of the paper she took off points for it even if the paper was correct. Lots of people I knew went back to print but I just stuck with it. My hand writing can still be very sloppy at times.

I type when it's anything business related, or if I need to bang out a lot of words, but I also enjoy writing longhand when I've got the time. In contrast to most people it seems, I've got excellent handwriting, and I only say that because I've been told that on numerous occasions. It's my own free-flowing, mostly print-like script.

I do everything that I can on a computer. My handwriting has neither improved nor regressed since fourth grade (ergo it's pretty damn bad). Curiously enough though, I have two seperate sets of handwriting- I can write with either hand, and each one is distinctly different.

Halfway between cursive and non-cursive. The result: unreadable mess. Even I have trouble reading it.

Weirdly, i grew up holding the pen awkwardly and it just grew on me, but it makes my writing awful when I'm rushing...
