Any Turkish members care to tell me what that country's view on gays is?

I'm not gay nor Turkish, but I've been to 5 different Muslim countries and I can tell you one thing: when you're in a decent hotel or in places that cater almost exclusively to tourists you can get away with pretty much any sign of lack of respect for the local customs or violation of the rules of Islam without consequences other than getting hateful looks from the waiters. In places where the staff relies on tips to feed their families your money is way more important than your sexuality. If you decide to pick an organized trip with a travel agency, you're pretty much ok as long as you don't insist on holding hands in the street (especially when you're not around your group and guide). However if you want to do some real travelling and sightseeing by having a tighter budget and not sleeping in hotels, going places where tourists don't go, eating at authentic restaurants and bars and socializing with local people, then you're pretty much fucked. I'm quite sure that guys kissing in a wrong part of Istanbul have a lower chance of survival than someone wearing a KKK robe in the Bronx.

We're a small area, so homosexuality is really just treated with apathy for the most part. Then again I usually choose to avoid going out in public as often as possible so it could be better or worse than I think.

Used to be Gay paradise, now it isn't anymore. That makes me said :( Still it's better then anywhere else I guess. Damm government should start (brainwashing) reeducating it's people. With all the damm racist, extremist and downright stupid people here.

Owh my God you didn't know. Man I find that very funny. Don't take the news too bad though, it is and has been modernizing at an amazing rate. If you're in the city you will be safe, but still you're likely to get better along with the population if you act like you're just friends.

Where I live, most people dont care. Although alot of the immigrants (arabs, somali's) are usually a bunch of homophobic, xenophobic racist douchebags.

As far as I'm aware homosexuality is pretty well accepted around where I live. I certainly accept it no problem, since one of my good friends and flatmates is of that persuasion and I have no problem. Not sure whether gay nightclubs mean acceptance or lack thereof though.

Here in the Netherlands it differs a bit per region, but in general you're better off not coming out for it unless you're some kind of celebrity. Last year in Amsterdam a homosexual couple got beaten up on the street for holding hands. Despite or maybe thanks to the ridiculous 'gay pride' parade held each year, homosexuality isn't that accepted or tolerated. It's not a part of society and people gladly forget that it even exists.
So said that this is true :( We really ought to better the situation. The government should at least try to get the message across. Like they did with the "Zinloos geweld" commercials campaign.
Though I like to believe that most gays in Amsterdam are open about it amongst friends.
However I also want to see a stronger reactions of the gay community itself. I've been living in Amsterdam for almost 2 years now and I've never seen 2 man kissing in public. I find that absurd. Amsterdam must have at the very least 20000 gay inhabitants, I know they fear the public reaction, but they should let their precens be known.

I live pretty deep in the bible belt, so you can guess what the general public opinion is on homosexuality. That said, Generation Y, the Millenials, and members of younger generations really don't seem to care; there is a definite generation gap when it comes to acceptance of homosexuality.

Kinda. Kids in school tend to be accepting, adults quite the opposite. Maybe I'm giving my town too much credit though, cause a video got banned from elementary schools in the district because it showed that same-sex couples were actually okay.

It's not really brought up around here. I never really hear support or opposition to it.
