Someone made this same exact thread a few days ago. However, since you're new and you want an answer, I think I'm somewhere above average, between 127 and 137.
Sorry about that :(

Depends on how you quantify intelligence. Being booksmart is a common measure, but often lacks practical application. Are you smarter because you know many things or because you can do many things?
I was mostly referring to testable booksmarts rather than common sense, but I'm assuming the average person here is higher than the average person period, so just IQ scores aren't really reliable.
Intelligence is more than book smart and you can measure more than booksmart or IQ. Let's take a mechanic. He might not know too much about biology or chemistry, but if you put a biologist and a mechanic to fix a car you can bet your ass that in most cases the mechanic will be proven superior. Social intelligence also matters.

I am smarter than average in the areas I'm smart in. I'm fairly good in language, I can discuss a wide variety of subjects, I have good understanding in market economics, chemistry, biology, sociology, psychology, technology and religion.
In high school I got all the answers correct on a math exam, including 2 questions that were so hard that they were removed from the exam all over the country.

All in all I am somewhere above the average. I'm far form a genius, but I'm smarter than the average in my areas. Where literature, art and social intelligence are clearly my weakest areas.
it has been proven time and time again that a very "street smart" person will perform extremely high on a standard IQ test. So will an artist, or a writer, or an engineer, because the tests measure intelligence, not knowledge.

There are not different kinds of intelligence, there's just different knowledge.

Also, mechanics are dumb, that's why they're mechanics. They pretend they posses some unique and unsearchable knowledge...but they really just have more tools than you.
There are different kinds of intelligence. Logics is one. Social intelligence is one. If you buy one of those puzzles along the line of getting a ring removed from a jumble a mechanic is more likely to see how to solve it rather than a mathematician because there's mechanical IQ. Some mechanics are simply better at seeing functionality based on the structures rather than logics. However by all means go on believing you are superior to all mechanics and that all mechanics are stupid while ignoring that you do in fact lack social intelligence.
I AM superior to a mechanic, I'm an engineer. I know painfully well how dumb they are. *face palm*

And you really need to read up on the subject more, I'm not just trying to argue. There is only one kind of intelligence, but people gravitate toward different expressions of that intelligence based on personal interest. Really, if you take 3 geniuses with "different" intelligences, an artist, a mathmetician, and a politician, and give them the same IQ test, they'll all score about the same.

Edit: This is a great book that has a section dedicated to intelligence. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=myths+psychology&um=1&hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=605&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=18384779757623408531&sa=X&ei=zDGVTqXeBI-3tgekp5GMBw&ved=0CFQQ8wIwAQ

Woohoo... another self ego stoking thread... Either the escapist is only frequented by geniuses, which I would like to believe, but highly doubt, or everyone thinks themselves smarter than everyone else. Science says it's the latter and frankly, these threads are just proving the existence of superiority bias.
Here its likely a combination of the two. Between the subject matter often found on this site and the moderation of this forum it tends to scare off many of the less intelligent people. While it is impossible to have a completely logical and well mannered debate anywhere on the internet there are fewer trolls around here than many other forums.

There is also the whole "gamers are nerds" stereotype, which has at least some merit to it. Most stereotypes have to be borne from some nugget of truth after all.

All that being said I'm sure there are some here who think they are smarter than they truly are.

As for me, if standardized testing, IQ, and/or GPA are the determining factors of intelligence for this thread I am above average. If something else is used to determine it I don't know where I fall.

I like to think I'm smart. My testicles say I'm a genius (Seriously. No, I don't hear voices.) but I try not to be stuck up about it. Even if I have brain power, I'm lazy, so I think I end up about average. I only barely passed maths last term.

Online IQ tests point me towards the high end of the scale, but I think that's just practice by now. I've done stupid things in all ends, social, logical... Me goof'd, as you might say. I don't consider myself better than anyone else. Average is average, but I'm not particularily stupid. I'm not really better or worse than anyone.

(... Except that guy at my old school, who taught and enforced nazi-greetings to those in the degree below. Yeah, I think I'm better than him for some reason. He was a right shit in most aspects.)

Depends on your definition of intelligence. I'm book smart; this I know because I get really good marks at school. I can understand new concepts with relative ease. I suppose I'm somewhere 'above average' on the spectrum. Given that 'average' is just the mean, 'above average' isn't that spectacular. I mean, I did an online IQ test once and it gave me a 'superior' but I'm hardly a genius.

I have the PSAT tomorrow so I'll get back to you on that, as for my state standardized test I scored a 4 on all subjects which means I got a B+ to A+ on everything. Although my cumulative GPA is only 3.3 so yeah, hooray for not being able to get work in on time

It does seem like this forum attracts a lot of the most intelligent people around but who often lack drive or whatever it is that makes people actually try at life. Not that I would be one of those people. *looks away*

I like to think I'm pretty smart. I'm studying Physics with Astrophysics at university so I hope I'm right about how smart I am or the next few years are gonna suck pretty hard.

I'm as smart as I need to be. Maybe I'm of below average intelligence, perhaps I'm above average. I honestly wouldn't know, because I mostly spend my time complaining about the lack of things to occupy my mind.

I'm really good at chess, if that counts for anything. On a percentage scale...Between 35-60%. 50% being average, of course. You can tack on (Or remove) another 10% if you wish.

Well according to my elementary school I am mentally retarded, but my logic level is 3 grade levels higher than it had any right to be. In highschool I went to a school that has IB and the Majority of students take it and by Majority I mean they are converting all classes into IB classes more and more every year, so the average is really high, yes I was below it but only by a little amount. And in College well I fail at chem and physics, but computer science, applied science and math, way above. So I have no idea how intelligent I am, I am gonna say below average.

Wow, really? We just had this thread.

It's time for the Dunning-Kruger effect, once again.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

Seriously people. Like 90% of everyone one here considers themselves above average. 50% here were child geniouses. 1% here, or even less, cant use percentage properly. (me)

Also, look up something called illusory superiority. I'll bet we are all pretty much average here.

Also also, since when did IQ become a source of your intelligence relative to others? Maybe your IQ relative to others, but intelligence? Im hardly the only one who thinks intelligence is hard to define here, and others than me have put it very elegantly.

Psh, hell if I know.

I've never taken an IQ test. At least not a legitimate one. I took a random one on the internet years ago, but I'm not about to take that seriously.

I can't really use my grades as an indication, because for my entire scholastic career they've jumped between A's and flat out failing classes due to a complete lack of interest in a subject and the subsequent skipping. To be honest though, I kind of take my lack of interest in learning about new things as a sign of intellectual immaturity, so that probably knocks me down a few points...

I suppose in the end, I don't know how intelligent I am. I'm probably average to slightly below average, BUT at least I'm smart enough to recognize my shortcomings and try to improve myself now that I've matured some.

Could be worse, I guess.....

I'm smarter than the average bear. To wit, I scored in the top five percent of SAT scores across the nation. Also I used "to wit" properly in a sentence.
teach me!

OT: yeaaaah, I suppose I'm most probably above average but I couldn't tell you exactly what.
See, I took an IQ test and it came back N/A (funny right) because I excelled so much in certain areas while under performing in others. for instance, reading comprehension scored in the 99.8th percentile, math computation in the 99th, and working memory in the 9th.

NEED. LARGER. CACHE.

Common sense intelligence is very high because I'm cynical.
Academic intelligence is probably average.
I find from my school career the two rarely go together.

I'm definitely above average. How much is hard to determine objectively. I have an incredible ability to process and use information, and I honestly have never met someone able to match my skill in that field. I am able to consciously follow anywhere from one to six completely different trains of thought, at the exact same time. I can simultaneously be having a conversation aloud, another conversation through AIM, and planning dinner without strenuous effort. Beyond that, I am able to take in new information and use it almost immediately. I can learn something new in a matter of minutes and be able to use it effectively in just about any situation.

That said, my memory is absolutely godawful. I have an incredibly annoying tendency to forget people's names moments after they introduce themselves. Even worse, in the middle of a conversation with someone I will forget what we were discussing. I've done it literally mid-word before, and it drives me up the fucking wall. As best I can tell it's a side-effect of the aforementioned multi-track mind. I can process information with the best of them, but I simply can't store it effectively.

All that together puts me definitely above the average person I'd say, but I can't really say by how much.

Since average seems to be "above average" in this thread, I'll say that I'm average.

"IT'S NOT MY FAULT FOR BEING SUPERIOR IN ANY AND EVERY WAY, NOBODY IS PERFECT!"
yeah, leave it be. people who are actually INTELLGENT would not drop by in this thread. They actually really do have better things to do than showing the world just "how great" they are.
So I go with average, although I never did an IQ test or something. It might show you something you don't really want to know ^^

EDIT: the escapist really is not full of above average people, just attention- and image whores. also you made a typo, WHICH MY SUPERIOR EXISTENCE CANNOT ACCEPT WAAAH
