I like my usual buys to contain atleast 10-15 hours or more.
I will sometimes make exceptions if they feature great online or a rock-solid Coop. And if possible, Both!

How about we stick a 100+ category in for my old favorite Morrowind (Elder Scrolls 3)?

If it doesn't last me at least 40 hours it isn't worth more than a rental.

At the price of games now, at least 26 hours++ Man it's just insulting to have to pay $70 for a game that gives you 4 hours of fun

For a role playing game, I've spent clear over 100 hours on a single profile.
For a first-person shooter, I'd say 10-20 hours is perfect.
For anything else, I really don't care.

In order for me to buy a game and feel satisfied I have to be able to play the game for at least 35 hours without getting bored with it, be it campaign or multiplayer or what have you

What kind of poll is that?

First of all, there is no way in hell it takes more than 11 hours to complete Halo, unless you're AFK for 5 hours.
Secondly, FPS games are generally extremely short, so tagging that as a 26-30 hour game is complete bollocks.
Thirdly, there is no 60+ hour option, which would include games such as long RPG's ( Oblivion, MMORPG's ).

Furthermore, the length of a game depends on the type of the game. I wouldn't want to have a 10 hour version of Ikaruga, but I do like long RPG's.

2 hours. Why? Portal.

Edit: Ok, I feel I should elaborate. I think length has very little to do with how good a game is. In your original post, you state that Halo is a good game, albeit short. I listed Portal. Half-Life Episode...1 I believe is the short one, and that's good. An example off the topic of video games, I can take a day or two, and compress it down into a single paragraph. I'm told it's pretty good. It's not how much of it you do, it's how good you do it...Don't you dare.

Why would you lump together length and type of game for the poll? That's a pretty stupid thing to do.

Also, why does any FPS under 25 hours count as terrible? CoD4 was the best FPS of the last decade and it was only 8-12 hours long. People don't play FPS games for the single-player usually.

You may have counted the "average good FPS" a bit too high. They don't go much farther than 8 hours or so.

What average good FPS is 26-30 hours long? None! Half life which is one of the longest FPS games was about 20, your AVERAGE FPS is about 8-12
