I like to watch soccer occasionally, but the whole 'supporter' aspect of team sports is one step below fascism, in my opinion.
I also enjoy watching boardsports and martial arts. I'm saving up for a longboard at the moment, because I still haven't managed to land a kickflip after five years on a normal deck. And I'll probably take up Aikido when I get back to college.

I enjoy playing sports. PLAYING. Not watching. And certainly not going batshit crazy over.

I play football competitively and play soccer, badminton and basketball casually. Sport is ridiculously fun when you're playing with your friends/teammates and that's the biggest part of the appeal. Some of the funniest things I've ever seen have happened whilst playing sport and it's honestly one of the best regular activities you can engage in in your life.

I don't really watch sports but I fence. Does that count?
same here but with wrestling. and it should. You like a sport just dont like watching sports.

OH P.S.....We used to practice in the same room as the fencing guys.....don't practice near wrestlers, They are all hungry, angry, and with all that beeping your machines make.....you make them quite annoyed. Don't annoy a guy who is that hungry lol.

I love rugby, and I like American Hand-Egg and football.

Don't start with that nonsense. It is called football. Deal with it.
Take a joke to heart more.

Please, do.
Kinda hard when the "joke" is repeated ad nauseum every time the topic is brought up.
I think people get so mad about this joke because it straight up makes sense, the only times you use feet in football are for kickoff, field goal, PAT, and punts. The time the ball is on a foot during a game is about 1:99999 compared to it being in contact with hands. How about we just use futbol for football, and let yall keep the nonsensical football.
I don't see why people can't just, know you, ignore it if you don't like it. It just comes off as being snarky to Americans.
I'm American too and I love handegg, at least college, I'm not following the draft as much as I should but that's what being a busy college student gets you. I also love football too, so it's frustrating when I start talking about football then someone's like "huh?" and I have to go "*sigh* soccer, the real football, ya know the one that uses feet and a ball?"
Lets end this while we are both civil. Not like the draft matters. Odds are there won't be a season this year, anyway. The NFL is already appealing that judge's decision to a pro-business court.
Ugh tell me about it. Although no matter what college football is gonna happen! I'm so pumped about that, even though the NCAA are taking pages out of the NFL playbook and being gigantic douchers.

I like sports. I enjoy meeting with friends and having fun while watching whatever it is those muscular big men are doing in the field. It's just really an excuse to meet up with people.

Practicing, in the other hand, is much more fun, specially basketball (imo). It's just too much fun to miss it. You guys should practice an sport even if you don't like watching it, you'd be surprised how much fun you will have

I've never seen anyone on the escapist express fondness for motorsports so far... I love everything on two and four wheels that you can race with. I'm also quite good at karting myself (for a girl, anyway >.< ).

Then again most other motorsports enthousiasts I know are low-brow middle aged men >.>

Ok, so you don't like watching them... what about playing them?

I enjoy sports, not just for the enjoyment of playing them, but the social side - watching with friends and even better playing with friends is the tits.

I love healthy competition, I love watching esports, I loved playing sports. I played baseball for about fourteen years, including one entire calendar year in Florida when I was 14 or so, and I never enjoyed watching it. I utterly loathe playing softball. I played football my senior year of high school, I never cared to watch it beforehand but after playing it I fell in love with it.

I used to play a fair amount of softball and volleyball.
On school teams as well. But I don't really like watching sports being played.

Personally, I think playing is fun,... but watching is boring.

While working in North America I was impressed by the support and 'family' atmosphere of the sports events I attended. 'Sell-out' games at high schools in the UK are unheard of; some of the pee-wee ice hockey games I've seen were more well-attended than the university BUCS finals over here. I can't say either way which approach is the more 'healthy' but the US approach certainly seems more positive.

It depends. I don't like team games(like football, basketball etc.), but I'm maniac of martial sports(both training and watching) and also huge fan of sailing, but I prefer to sail on my own than watching regattas.

And I really can't understand soccer-mania in my country. Even my friends are obsessed on this sh**. I dunno why, the soccer is so undynamic, even for team sport, and players are such pussies, weeping in any occasion.

Sure, sports are great. Love to get outside and play em, but I spend ZERO time watching sports.
Just can't get into it, the spectacle, and rituals, the "team spirit"... it's just so boring to just watch and trash talk.

I don't really watch many sports bar football or rugby when there's an Irish international on, or golf. I only play golf, and that only for exercise - I dislike ultra-competeteive sports, which is why I quit play football years ago myself....

im not a fan, but i do enjoy seeing interesting/incredible plays that get put up on yahoo. its just not enough to get me to watch a full game.

i just have no interest in watching an average game for several hours where if youre lucky, at least one cool thing will happen. even the Superbowl, or final match of the World Cup, or the Stanley Cup, etc. are just an average game. theres nothing really more extreme about them, its just that its the last one... then the process repeats the next year, and the next one, etc.

and i dont understand why people go to the games. if i were a big sports fan, i would probably prefer to sit at home and watch the games in HD, with replays and commentary. it seems much better than sitting in the hot sun, far away from the action where you cant see anything, and all you get to eat is some of the most unhealthy and disgusting food to ever be served x.x

also, when i was a kid, i was forced to play football. it sucked BALLS. sooooooo boring, and even for peewee it was still competitive. its not fun to play when its taken that seriously. all the kids at my school that are on a team will blame their own fucking teammates every time they lose a game. that shit is ridiculous
