Crap, I never thought of that. Of course I don't like to use Nukes, I prefer to use the Giant Death Robot. Much more fun. Anyway I suppose that puts my kill count up into the billions, possibly the 10's of billions.Whoatemysupper said:If you play Civ V, think of this: Based on the demographics page, you can easily work out that each unit of population in a city is 300,000 people. Nukes + Me = easily over a billion. I think each nuke strike is at least 900,000 peeps.
Honestly, even in Total War (or at least the ones I've played) a seriously epic battle would only allow about 1500 soldiers on either side. Unless the more recent ones have far greater numbers, or someone plays a whole lot of different campaigns, taking over the whole world, then I can't see it accounting for more than a million kills, maybe two. Pandemic on the other hand, has you literally killing billions per playthrough without even doing anything, even if you don't do that well. I've got it on in the background right now, and the disease is probably going continental without me even watching what's happening.Meaning of Karma said:I don't think many of you truly grasp how large of a number 1 billion is. You are not going to get a count in the billions just by playing FPS games, or hell, even games like Starcraft.
That being said, you can kill a lot of people in games like Pandemic and Total War.
Ah, good point. I mostly occupied or enslaved the populations, unless morale was low enough to cause a serious riot risk at the front lines, in which case I would cull the population as a deterrent. Happened more and more often in the Roman campaign where I pretty much took the whole map, until a massive resource deficit meant that the rebels and Egyptian holdouts managed to start driving me back.Meaning of Karma said:I'm referring to your ability to massacre the populace of a city you've conquered. The number can eventually add up, especially if you play all the way to the late-game in most of your campaigns.Random berk said:Honestly, even in Total War (or at least the ones I've played) a seriously epic battle would only allow about 1500 soldiers on either side.
