Hi all I'm just winering if it's just me but as a tabletop wargamer aswell as a computer gamer if any other like minded people can tell me why:?
people who play only comptergames think that all wargamers are short overweight 30somethings who still live with there mom?
I for one think wargaming is a moresociabe hobbie as unlike playing say Halo over ine Internet I can speake face to face with someone and if they are funny, like minded then I can go down the pub for a chat with them. And yet apparently I'm (as a board gamer) a social outcast I hope people can help fathom this one.

Could you edit this to make sense? I can barely tell what you're saying.
And no, I don't play table-top war-games, the little figures are too expensive. I've seen some of those things go for $70 or more, and they aren't even put together.

I think its got something to do with the ease of playing computer games over the time spent with a hobby like war-gaming or role-play. Its just easier for the people who don't do war-gaming for what ever reason to say pick up a console, plug it in, insert game, switch off brain and play rather then build and paint armies, work out army lists and use your brain strategically; plus I think some people get put off by the fluff and back stories that most war-gaming systems use

I use to play Warhammer 40k as a mix of Space Marines and Sisters of Battle but just cost too much after a while. Still very fun but I prefer paying about 40 pound for a game rather than on a figurine that I have to finish myself.

I am still a regular at my Games Workshop,
although I suck at the game though, it's still fun.

I know the cost can be a factor but I look at it as let's say 45 pound buys a game like FIFA and it lasts no time at all but my toys last longer but I understand that. The thing I wanna know is why people who just plug in and switch off think people who role dice and think strategically are more socially enept? ( bar world of Warcraft players who seem to cop all the stick lol)

I play Warhammer 40k with my brother and cousins. It's nice to play with them because we keep costs down by substituting lego men for infantry and such.

I play both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000. Orcs and Goblins for fantasy, Tyranids and Raven Guard for 40,000. As for lego creations, I made a Lego Drop Pod; the doors opened and everything.

I'm just starting to play Warhammer. Bought the battle for skull pass (dwarves and greenskins) and just starting to get it painted.

I do it for Chaos!
In both 40K (as Tzeentch) and Standard(As Nurgle). In the Warmachine games I play as the Cryx.

I am 28 and a healthy weight I also rent my very own appartment and am very close to getting my teaching certificate for ages 5-9 (I want to teach 1st grade)

I enjoy tabletop wargames because of the slow critical thinking but it's not 100% strategy there is some luck involved which makes it so you never no completely who will win.

Yep, I'm a player of Warhammer 40000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, as well as a couple of the Specialist Games from Games Workshop, like Battlefleet Gothic.

Looks like warhammer is the modern definition of war game. That's sad.

My friends and I have a warhammer group that I'm a fringe member of. I wouldn't say being a board gamer makes you a social outcast. On the contrary, I'd say it promotes social interaction because you need another person to play with.

Anybody here still play Squad Leader/Advanced Squad Leader, or other Avalon Hill games like Axis and Allies? That's what I think of when I hear war game.
