First, there's the game, which are commonly $65 plus tax.

But we tend to spend more than that. We sometimes invest more money for that extra content, whether it's micro-transaction, dlc, season pass, cosmetics and skins, collector's edition, etc.

How much do you usually spend on a single game? This does not include cost of your platform and monthly subscription.

Uh.....you need to drop that poll price WAAAAAAY lower to hit my range.

It is incredibly rare that I EVER buy a game on launch ($60). Games drop in price so quickly and I'm always behind anyway that I see zero reason to spend $60 on a game. There are probably two games that I spend $60 on to get at launch (and one of them, the Madden games, I always get at least $20 off due to the deals at my Best Buy and the other one, Call of Duty, I think I'm done with) per year; every other game that I buy is $30 or less. I buy most of my games at $20 or less but since I do buy Season Passes and DLC (on sale of course :D), we can round it up and say that I spend about a median of $30 per game.

The last game I bought at full price without any kind of coupons or deals or anything of that nature was "The Last of Us" (worth it!), which is now a little over two years old.

You need to include more options for cheaper prices. Almost all of the games I own are either free to play (TF2, League of Legends, Smite, etc) or I got for very cheap during a sale. I'm a shameless cheapskate when it comes to games. The only game I've spent more than $80 is World of Warcraft, for its expansions and subscriptions.

I am starting to let prices drop before I buy a game, unless it is something I am super hyped about. I paid full price for Witcher 3, but nothing else since......I dont even know.

Not sure the exact curreny from dollar to sterling.

For the most part I sepnd less than £40 preferable when the game is around less than £35 at launch. (Steam sales is the best way to go if you can be patience long enough.)

The only time I would spend more than £40 is the dlc (Borderlands The Pre Sequel characters DLC) or microtranaction like extra bank slots or key from Guild Wars 2.

I've only paid full price for three games in the last five years, and those were under special circumstances. Two (Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story) had already released to good reception in other places, and one (BioShock Infinite) was a sequel to one of my favorite games from last generation and I knew there would be a lot of discussion on it that I wanted in on. As a result, I had a good reason to put in the money on those games.

Other than that, it is rare that I spend a lot on games. $30 is around the max I'll normally pay, but even that is a little high. Granted, if I had more money, that would probably be the standard for me.

Like $20-$40. Most of my games I buy after a price drop and I don't do the whole DLC thing much. I prefer to just get GOTY editions. Some games I have spent more than $60 on but it is the exceptional game rather than the rule. Most games get a $20 bill or $40 thrown at them. The ones that stand out as far as what I have spent on them are:

Civilization 4: Somewhere around $200 (multiple copies, plus expansions, AND the complete edition)
XCom (Firaxis): About $80
Diablo 2: Around $70-80
Skyrim: $110 (Bought PS3 copy on release never bought DLC for PS3. Then picked it up for PC Legendary edition on Steam sale later and traded my PS3 copy in to Gamestop. Which I got $25 credit, so we could say that I spent $85 on Skyrim)

As far as I can tell every other game has either been the price of the new game ($60-$65) or less. Red Dead Redemption may have went over $60, but I am pretty sure I got it at $40 and then bought the GOTY edition later for $20 and gave my original copy to my brother. Most are, as I said, in the $20-$40 range. If I like a game, I don't mind throwing money at it. However, very few games make me want to throw money at them. Most DLC is overpriced for what you get, even from the devs with a good name. I much preferred expansion packs myself though. So I think I have 4 or 5 games that have went over 60 bucks.

EDIT: Oh wait Scarim Coral made me remember I spent like $200 on Guild Wars 2.

Speaking of MMO's

15 bucks a month for 7 years. Plus multiple character services and paid mounts.

WoW has probably made $1500 off of me........please excuse me while I go cry in a corner.

I'll pay full price if I have enough fate in the developer, but that doesn't happen that often (and I get review codes for a decent number of games I want to play, so, eh, yeah...). Collector's Editions are an extremely rare treat. I usually buy consolegames for 20 bucks or so, and if it's a triple A game, it's probably an edition with all the worthwhile DLC included.

As for DLC, I only buy some of rare occasions. Extra maps, missions, quests and storylines - that kind of DLC. No cosmetic stuff. I think I've spend 15 bucks at most on one game.

Basically, I'm a cheapskate.

I mostly buy games several months/years after release and almost never buy DLC so nowhere near as high as the lowest price on your poll. I do occasionally buy full price if I'm really hyped and/or it's from a developer or franchise whose games rarely drop in price but I still rarely buy DLC. Most games I'd buy at launch don't tend to be AAA or AAA-priced anyway.

I buy a game on release that I really want but I'll usually sell the game after a couple months and the game ends up only costing me somewhere between $15-$25 depending on if if there's a deal on release (usually $10 off) and how much I sell it for. Basically I'll buy a game whenever I want to play it and get it for cheap. Gaming is a rather inexpensive hobby.

On very rare occasions I will buy a game new but its even rarer that the game is the full 40 pounds mark. I usually wait for my games now, years if need be I have more than enough to tide me over I probably buy more games for older systems like the PS2 and PSX than I do new systems tbh nowadays. I have never bought things like season passes and I cant remember the last time I paid extra for a collectors edition I think it was probably Oblivion on 360. I dont know what the average would be but its almost certainly sub 20 pounds on a game now.

I just dont like the day 1 DLC bs that has swept over the market as well as the ship a broken game and then patch it mentality. So I buy the game years later with all the DLC and patches at a budget cost if I still want it. Seems to work out pretty well for the most part.

Well here its typically $80+ for the base game.
And depending on the game I'll get DLC. Like Destiny's DLC was worth the purchase for me.
Never done any sort of micro-transactions other than map packs/expansions though.

I'm not sure I've ever payed $65 or more for a game. Like many others have commented, I don't buy titles on launch.

Well...Digitally, It's always between 5-30 bones with 15-20 bones being the relative average...
Physically, if used, it's usually between 5-25 bones with 10-15 bones being the relative average...
Physically, if new, it's usually between 30-60 bones with no true relative average...
Physically, if Limited/Collector's Edition, it's usually between 30-150 bones with 70-100 bones being the relative average...Other than that, on a relative average overall, it's usually between 20-60 bones with a 80-90% "worth it" sucess rate in general...

Given that I have no memory of buying any DLC for any games, and haven't bought a physical game in yonks, and only buy Steam games if they cost less than £5 online -- with few exceptions such as Humble Bundle and games I really want -- probably at most £10 on a single game. And even then, I'd be surprised if it was that much.

If my memory of sterling to dollar is correct, that is roughly something like $15. Again, that is a very loose upper bound; chances are it is actually much lower.

I almost never spend that much on games. Just today I spent less than $40 on 7 games (Final Fantasy XIII-2, Batman: Arkham Origins and, God of War Collection) and a few comics. I don't really buy into micro-transactions since a lot of the time I can unlock those perks by playing the game and the next game that I'm considering buying on day one is Extreme Butoden; a $30 3DS game that's launching with a free copy of a second game. I'm a frugal shopper sgy...a very frugal shopper.
