A simple question: how often do you buy games?

Since I live round the corner to a very cheap game shop, I can afford to buy a new game about once every month (Mass Effect £8, Lost Odyssey £9, Fable 2 £12, woop woop!). Sadly, I can't continue to sustain myself on this, so I am now restricting myself to only buying a new game once I have 700 of the previous's Achievement points. This works on the theory that there is much more to do on the games I already have, and that there's no need to buy new games! And that I'm poor...

Hm.. there's no "Whenever I have the money" option...

If there was, that'd be mine.

I would buy around one every two weeks, but it seems the only worthwhile ones come out holiday season, or around that time.

Depends a lot on what games are released that year. This year I only bought Prototype. Getting Modern Warfare 2 when it comes out tho.

No offence but the poll options are ridiculous.

Doing it that way will always miss out tonnes of options.

It needs to be more like:

A weekly basis
A monthly basis
A yearly basis
Every few weeks
Every few months
Every few years
Whenever I can (money/time etc.)
Whenever a game I want comes out.

The option for not buying games should be missed out because this is a gaming site and anyone who doesn't buy games will have nothing to discuss on this particular topic.

When they become cheaper and I have the cash. So not very often.
But I just picked up Lego Indy and ACFA and I think both are great!

No, 'Gamestar'. I think it only operates around where I live.

Usually I just snap up good games whenever I find them for a low price. Which is far too often. There's no regularity to my buying patterns, really, and I only buy a few new releases a year.

Do you live in England? There's a few Gamestars here in Sussex, although I haven't seen any of them outside of this county. Pretty cheap, although like most outlets the prices pale in comparison to Ebay.

Not the one I know of. They're a very small chain, and seem to rely a lot on trade-ins so it's quite rare for them to have a consistent stock (except for the stuff they can't shift).

I've played WoW since release. During that time, I only bought the expansion packs and like 1 game a year.

Now that I quit (in the beginning of June this year) I've bought 15 games so far, and more incoming.
Not to mention a PS3 + a DS Lite and a new TV :b

At least WoW was cheaper!

When I get a console, I go on a small spending spree of used and cheap new games. But then my console and games get stolen or lost in a move or forgotten or something, and the cycle restarts. It's roughly equivalent to buying 1 or 2 games every 3 months.

Depends on the price. Big AAA titles aren't very often, but with Steam you can buy older, cheaper games for $20 or less. I bought 3 games priced at $10-20 over the past 3 months.
