I figured this would be interesting in terms of discussion because I'm interested if people share the same stance on it as I do.
Just to clarify - "100% completion" doesn't mean "went through the main game", it means "went through the game, got all the achievements, collected everything etc.".
Mostly this concerns achievements but if the game is, say, GTA, then it is about the "100% completion in that game".
For me it's sometimes because I only bother with fully completing the game if I like it. I recently got a Platinum trophy in Heavy Rain because I loved that game, same goes for Modern Warfare 2 (three achievements short because my computer died).
So, discuss. I guess.

I try in the more linear types of games, but don't really do it much on sandbox games. I'll happily do everything in Timesplitters, but I'll be damned if I'm going to hunt down every single pigeon in GTA4.
Oh, GTA 4. I actually love that game but those pigeons are such a pain in the ass to search for them.

Sometimes, the games first playthrough generally dictates whether I do or don't. If I like it enough I won't be able to not play through it again, and I'm naturally a perfectionist so the second playthroughs and after are all about getting it perfected.

I rarely try to 100% games. Sometimes i'll try to get all of the achievements if they don't seem too crazy and time consuming since once you have squeezed all of the life out of a game achievements can help get some more time out of it and add a new level of challange.

Never.

I cant justify having to run around finding 100's of horse shoes scattered around some huge map + other meaningless grindy tasks just so i get the satisfaction of seeing a 100% completion sign.

GTA: SA for one, i absolutely loved, every second of the main storyline was great except maybe that plane/driving school. But i stopped playing pretty much as soon as i finished the campaign, because what was left over was stupid things like "Get 100% in driving/piloting/boat school" "Collect 1000 horse shoes" or something equally as stupid.

Only when the achievements dont require online scores. I do not have the patience to kill 4,000,000,000,000 (slight exaggeration) enemies in a deathmatch, just to get 10 points or whatever.

If I Like it enough I'll make a point of doing everything..... except collection quests. InFamous and Assassins Creed 2 being the most recent offenders that I can think of.

Why do these keep getting added to games? There's only two ways of completing them; Wander around aimlessly for several hours (which stops being fun real fast), or finding a guide (which is kind of missing the point).

100% is often a terrible hassle, I really can't be bothered in most games. I really can't recall any 100% efforts in any game, but there must be one somewhere.

I would if the game was awesome but it depends on how much of a grind the game is offering.
If it was something like, "finish the level without being hurt/seen" or "play through campaign with a pistol" I'd go for it.
Finding all the hidden tokens..no. Hide and seek isnt that much of a fun game mechanic :[

I play games for fun. Collecting 100 obscure and useless trinkets is not fun. If the game is actually fun and the requirements are amusing to fulfil, I will do my best to get a 100%. Such occasions occur rarely, however.

Assassin's Creed(s), Saboteur, several GTAs and FFs to name a few. I tend to get slightly hung up on getting to that wonderful 100%-mark (or complete list of achievement, collections etc,)... Still, every percent is a minor victory that helps to brighten my day.
Gods, this post make me seem like a sad lonely person....

Rarely. Mostly with Western games.

VERY RARELY with Japanese games. Japanese games are fucking nuts to 100% usually.

Only if I absolutely love the game. I've only done it for a few. Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, and Fallout 3 are the only ones that come to mind.

EDIT: I am however in the process of getting %100 in Bayonetta, but it's proving troublesome. I also don't even know why I want it, but dammit... I just gotta have pure platinum on everything!

Only one game where I've tried 100% completion and that's Assassin's Creed II. But I failed.

Never. I hate the Xbox achievements system. I just want to play through a game and see how the story ends.

I have to really enjoy the game. Especially in some cases like Tales of Vesperia...that game is AT Least 3 playthroughs IF you do everything in the right order. I spent and unlimited amount of time in FFVII, FFXII and FFTA. I played RE 5, Bioshock and Mass Effect 4 times over and Fallout 3...hell I still play that now. I have to love the game to the point where I go, "I wanna thousand it"

Also the games that give me a relative challenge are good as well. Both Modern Warfare's, Prototype (Damn platinum challenges), Left 4 Dead and things like that intrigue me as well. However
