So in December the power went out, it was the second time that year (2009). Of course it goes out at night in 35C heat with 75% humidity, and it goes out for six hours. And only three hours ago it went out again, but this time just for two hours.
It's really annoying as it's so hot and sticky without the air conditioning on and I just can't sleep. It didn't go out and often doesn't go out during the day when I am not home.

So how often does your power go out?

Never, at least so far. I've lived in my current appartment for nearly ten years and the only power outage I've ever had I caused myself by blowing a fuse...

the only power outages I usually experience are weather related. Once a year there is either a big wind/rain storm or a ice storm that knocks down lines or knocks trees into lines. Otherwise the power is quite consistent.

You have an awesome December at 35C!!
Well today it was actually 37C degrees. But with high humidity and overcast clouds. It's not pleasant, your skin sticks to plastic, your clothes feel heavy. And in the past week alone something like 8 dogs have died a slow painful agonizing death because they have been in the backyard without water provided by their owner.

I drank four bottles of water today at work and I still came home dehydrated with a headache.

well it just seems that where my house is and the grid it is on just seems to have moments to just cut out.

one time in grade eleven my high school is really close to my house and the power was out for an hour and a half and if the power was out for more than an hour and a half they would let us go. it was a minute until they would let us go and then the power came on

and now i am in college if the power goes out at school it went out at my house DAMM IT!

also it will come on and then back off again but only about twice every six months
YAY BATTERIES!!!

It's been out twice in the 4 years I've been living in my apartment and those were both in the same day.

Last time it went out was two nine months ago.

Off course the power in my house does trip a lot but thats an easy fix.

I answered once a year, but to be honest that's probably too frequent of an interval - we've only lost power during seriously catastrophic storms or when our house was physically struck by lightning, and those aren't too common (though we do get a lot of storms here in Tornado Alley). My city has a kickass electrical grid - during the big east coast power outage, all we had was a momentary dip.

Of course I had the 'luck' to be working that day, so everyone from the much larger city just to the south of us showed up at the store to buy flashlights, batteries, candles, etc because their power grid was part of the major networks that had failed that day - we had a longer line of people still waiting to check out when closing time rolled around than I had ever seen during the worst of the holiday rush.

In the past 20 years of my life, I think I've had 2 power outages at my house.

Probably due to the fact that my father works for the electric company.

I've had more power outages at school, than anywhere else, probably at least twice a year

hmm maybe once or twice a year, usually less than 2 hours...

Only time ever we got power cut for an extended length of time was the icestorm 1998, my hometown had no power for 35+ DAYS
