Doesn't really matter I don't think. I was in the 12-13 age range when I got my first girlfriend, we lasted for well over a year, I think in the end it was the pressures of secondary (high) school that really took their toll on the relationship. Not one day has gone by when I don't wish I was still with her though *tear*. Buuut, enough of that.

I'm 20 years old and haven't had a girlfriend yet. Actually, girls avoided or ignored me most of my life, apart from family members, obviously, but yeah, that's the truth. Until about a year ago, when I started getting to know people online, and surprisingly, most of those friends are actually girls.

I've never had a real crush either while growing up, my first and only serious crush started six months ago and is still warm within me.

I like that.

14 is a good age to start. Even if you aren't allowed to be dating, kids will still do it secretly. Its not that hard really.
Silly parents...

Yeah I had my first relationship at 14, and it lasted till I was 16, so I don't think it's like you can't have something real at that young an age, but I'm one for thinking that it's all about when your good and ready, don't rush into stuff if you aren't kinda deal.

Depends on your definition of "dating". If you're trying to refer to a relationship, then there is nothing wrong with 13 year olds doing it. But if we're talking about going out to dinner/to the movies (you know, actually going out on dates), then I don't understand how that would work until you at least had a car. Having your mom drive you everywhere isn't going to work out.

But when I was in middle school, kids had boyfriends/girlfriends. I did too. It was just a time to explore the opposite sex and get used to having boyfriends/girlfriends.

I'm a 14 year old from the bronx, and i see kids in my school dating all the time, and it makes me sick. Not the dating part, thats nice. Its trying to get a date.see most kids here at my age, stared dating when they are 11,and ever since then, all the girls went from long dress and pink coats to dress that are as short as mens under wear, and very small shirts. And the guys were there pants down to there lower legs, and dew rags and stuff. Now why they do that is to get to date the other sex.It makes me sad.

10-11 year old kids in my old primary school were going out with each other for some reason. Then they would cry when they broke up and tell on each other for it. Quite funny because of their stupidity.

14-15, since I believe developing social skills when you are a young adult is absolutely vital for success in the future. I'd also say 12-13 in a mixed, supervised group.

Now, that's easy for me to say a-top my soap box, but I'm fairly certain that I'll have the same viewpoint in 10-15+ years when I finally have kids and they are that age.

I don't think it's productive or wise to date anyone until after high school. High school relationships are frivolous at best and almost assuredly doomed to failure.

well i guess the most socially acceptable age is like 14-15 but i couldn't care less how young a kid is when theyre having sex as long as they do it protected and with someone they trust. same goes with just dating

by the way i live in MD too, I go to B-CC Highschool (bethesda chevy chase) how about you?

Where I come from it's quite common for people to start dating at 11-12. I think that it is important for children to explore their emotions from an early stage, as long as they want to. It as a part of figuring out their place in life. They usually only do innocent things anyway and it can them more prepared to deal with sexually charged dating later on.

Started actual dating when I was 13, but i guess it depends on the girl, the friends you hang out with, and how social you are. As posts have said 12-13 in a supervised group of friends.
