Poll: How should we Name Planets?

Well, let's just say we find earth-like planets in "Habitable Zones" which are suitable to live on once our fucking planet eats itself. This is after we have been able to conduct deep space exploration and travel, we have hover cars and laser beams and all that futuristic stuff.

But how should we name the planets?

Is it just me or does 'the future' always get stereotyped with lasers and flying cars? Kinda bugs me :/

How about we name them like we name cities, it is named by whoever founds and starts the development of said planet.

There are so many planets out there we would probably run out of words, just name them after the people who discover them, give them cordinate names who knows not after gods though.

They shoould be named by the crews of the ships that first find them, so there will be planets like "new frontier" and "shiningdawn", or "armorgeddon" and "last hope"

I think the name of a planet should be put to a world vote, who gives someone the write to name a planet if it isn't theirs. I feel any suggestions should be put to a vote

I didn't mean you personally, in general. People always says laser and flying cars which, just ins't true. Maybe this laser guns and flying cars will come around when we, as a society have the right technology and will power, which i don't think is going to happen for a long time, at least we won't see is what i'm saying.

Anyway, Star Wars names all the way! We have to start sómewhere to work towards a future wich is comparable to Star Wars.

I would like to name planets after the star they orbit (meaning that we are on Sol 3), but if being around other people has taught me anything, it seems much more likely that we'll be seeing planets like "Starbucks 5", or "Activision 2", or... worst of all, "Disney Planet".

Well, name them just like towns. Name them after the person who discovered them, Imagine living on planet Cape, or Planet Newton. Also name them after cities on earth, planet Cairo, planet. These things are timeless.
