No, "stop making it" is not an answer. I hear a lot of people complaining about chest high walls, brownness, set pieces, and the multiplayer (aside from some lag, no idea why); but never any ideas on how it could be made better.

So, who should make it, what should they keep, what should they get rid of, blah, blah, blah?
Play nice.

I actually have no real complaints about gameplay mechanics. I just wish parents were more responsible and NOT allow their damn kids playing it. If anything, campaign modes suck. Didn't care about the MW storyline. I also prefer Treyarch because although I only played 2 of them, Black Ops is my favorite. MW2 had terrible MP all around and hardly fixed anything. I prefer Treyarch because they do different things, they patch frequently, zombies and have a better perk/unlock system.

While I no longer enjoy Call of Duty games I see no reason why they should stop making them if they continue to sell such a biblically huge amount of games.

The only problem I forsee is oversaturation of the market, a new game a year surely can't last forever (glances over to fifa 12).

They already have changed the locales, time periods, added more modes etc etc etc. Really if all that fails they'd have to change the fundemental mechanics of the game but then it's not COD anymore and thats the reason people buy it.

I'm not sure what I would change, on a personal level I already have the battlefield series which I prefer so I'm happy with COD existing the way it is, away from me, as I no longer enjoy them.

I've got a few ideas;

-Go back to the 3, 5 and 7 killstreak system and make them equipment only. Killstreaks don't stack.
-Remove perks that encourage camping such as Ghost and Assassin. EDIT: Smash's idea is better.
-Completely overhaul the melee system. Either remove the knife entirely and replace it with hitting with your gun (and it's not a one-hit kill) or failing that make the knife a two hit kill or give players knife protection such as a stab vest perk.
-Remove deathstreaks entirely. Players shouldn't be rewarded for sucking.
-Get rid of quickscoping. It's not how snipers are supposed to be used and they certainly shouldn't be more effective than an SMG or shotgun at close range. Failing that make sniper only and no sniper game modes.
-Dedicated servers. Lag comp in COD is a joke.
-Better hit detection.

TBH I think the campaign is fine. It's just there to give you a feel of the game and the guns anyway.

EDIT: Beta test the game so any bugs etc can be ironed out.

No killstreaks, larger maps, better incentives for objectives, weapons that reward skill better, destructible scenery, and vehicle sections. (Basically turn them into a Battlefield game that doesn't need Origin.)

Introducing a bit more realism. Having to walk 20 minutes through some shitty marsh in some godforsaken Eastern European country just to get to your objective would build up the suspense, and also get rid of all the hyperactive 12 year olds from the community (which would arguably kill the franchise, but that's a risk I'm willing to take). It's win-win.

Hats! Everyone likes hats :p

For me a whole new setting, I'm tired of world war 2 and non-specific modern conflicts in games. I'm sure there are other conflicts that could use that would make a good game.

I picked other.

ditch the worn out engine that they used for starters for something much better. absolutely No Russians.

Time period: Iraq War.
World environment: actual city mapping based on real data. It should look and sound just like Iraq.
No linear mission environments: Use Sandbox world with full interaction. You can go anywhere do anything to complete your mission. You will be briefed on intel on the best course to take but you can deviate if the need calls for it. example. you get into a firefight and are cornered in a building with no obvious way out. use C-4 to blow a back wall and escape out the new door. Want to duck down in the sewer? absolutely but suffer health loss.
No Visine for health.. you must rely on combat medics to keep you alive.
A.I. that pays attention.
No constant NPC re-spawning if you don't move forward in a section. Once you eliminate the attackers in the area you are able to take a breather but it may not last.
Have the NPC's be randomly generated so you never know if the group of attackers is two or three with small arms, or a dozen heavily armed attackers with RPG's and such. This way you never know what you will face each time you go through the same area. Also areas you may have damaged are slowly repaired over time. This opens up DLC missions that can be added or taken away at any time so the game's progression is different each time you play it.
Miltiplayer / co-op: Have up to 6 man co-op with auto adjusting difficulty. The more live players the harder the game gets. Team work becomes imperative and you have to act as if you were a real military unit.

have your performance in missions have influence on the missions you are sent on. Fuck up you get sent on more shit missions, but if you are exemplary on them then you are selected for missions of higher importance as you progress the story.

These are a few ideas I have..

Stop making it is my answer, actually. I'd rather see the devs take what they've learned from Modern Warfare/Black Ops and start making new series' instead of rehashing the old ones.

I enjoyed all the CoD games but I'd like to see the same teams tackle maybe an open-world mission-based game like Borderlands & Rage or, OH, an old school over-the-top FPS with dinosaurs, like Turok when it was still good.

Stop using real countries and real problems. Even if they want to keep the concept of "realistic shooters" it doesn't mean they can't have some fun with it.

I don't even like most FPS games but I would play a game where the Bikborgian Government sends Soldiers to Futzber to gain access to their reserves of Iceberg Lettuce.

Longer, less linear campaign that doesnt feel tacked on "just because".

Better servers so theres none of that host quitting crap.

Take out killstreaks or make them less powerful.

"You have done well, you know what we're gonna do? Help you get even more kills with choppers!"

Just get rid of claymores. They are just silly.

I'd stop making it for awhile.

Seriously, the genre, and this particular game, are bone tired.

Remove kill streaks,

I joined a few matches of COD MW2. I spent about 5 minutes in both being hammered by kill streak after killstreak without actually fighting anyone.

They seem a tad broken.
They're a lot better in Black Ops. They're not as OP and they don't stack

Bad idea. Ghost and Assassin encourage camping, but their not the problem; the problem is a noob doesn't feel confident in his ability to kill. Stopping Power solves that problem without employing bullshit like deathstreaks.

Ghost and Assassin are a necessary evil when the UAV is a thing, and the UAV is also necessary. Those two perks were also an aggressive players best friend. Removing Ghost and Assassin would result in MORE camping, not less.
So what would you do, keep Ghost and put in Stopping Power in the same tier? If they were in different tiers it would be really OP.

Close Quarters oriented maps
Remove Quick-Scoping and focus on LAG problems
Melee must be two hit kill, 50% of damage
Remove lunge from melee
No Juggernaut, Stopping power, or Danger Close
Map oriented kill streaks (Certain maps give UAV, some give Airstrikes etc.)
All guns from previous games AND new ones, duplicates are allowed.
No shotguns on certain maps
Perks that encourage camping such as Assassin must be removed
Although I like Pro perks I feel that they may be a bit OP at times

Yes. That is exactly what I would do.

Suddenly, Ghost/Assassin/Coldblooded is a perk used by good players who know how to move around a map. All the "noobs" are using Stopping Power, something that helps them out a lot more. "Noobs" also feel more confident and move around more, instead of lurking in a dark corner.

MW2 had plenty of flaws but that game didn't have that particular breed of camper you see so often in MW3 and Black Ops. Why? Because Stopping Power.

It's just FPS balance 101. You need a ying to the yang, if you have a defensive/sneaky perk, you need one that's offensive/more upfront in the same slot to combat it. If you don't, suddenly everyones camping.
Huh that makes an awful lot of sense. Seems like a good idea IMO

I haven't really played any CoD other than WaW in Zombie Mode and one that was on the original Xbox that was called Finest Hour I think, and I doubt they are like that one anymore, but anyway I liked the Zombie survival mode a lot, so I voted Treyarch, but in reality I wouldn't know, actually I have yet to play any brown military shooter that people are so tired of, so I can't say I'm tired of them.

Vehicles and larger maps. I still have fond memories of United Offensive. Also cut the amount of grenades able to be carried. I loved CoD4 but most smaller maps were rife with nade spamming.

Hmm...

Make a magic gun that shoots rainbows that turns enemy's into marshmallows and a unlockable outfit that turns your character into a giant furry that can breathe fire and ride a magic unicorn called Tim.

ARE YOU LISTING TREYARCH?

Put it into single player and don't cop out by putting overpowered fun weapons into the damn zombies like cheapskates.

While I'm at it mates, lets make it more story focused, have a character voiced by Frankie Boyle who wears a Giant Panda suit and has a attack where he shouts obscenity's that turns enemy's into rice crispy's and a robot voiced by Russell Howard (It's set in the future, might as well)who works at the CERN in Switzerland who is scared of falling into the Jaws Of Infinity and turns into a fighter jet that's vapor trail is rainbows. Treyach, if this doesn't appear then it will be the worst game.

here is a small list of the things I would do

1. remove killstreak rewards rewards. Instead, reward players with XP for being on a killing spree, and granting more XP to the person who kills them

2. all weapon content is unlocked at start. all weapons, attachments, and perks are unlocked at level 1. the rewards you receive from unlocks will be purely cosmetic, such as skins, color changes, or emblems.
2a. that, or open a shop system with no level requirement, meaning you could get whatever gun/perk/attachment you wanted at any time

3. reduce the auto aim. the auto aim in call of duty is really ridiculous atm, I would reduce it so that it will snap to face a player, rather than snap AT the player. it would move the cross-hair into their general direction, but still rely on accuracy to shoot things

4. Start from scratch. each call of duty game since 4 looks fairly identical, I suggest that the game is started from scratch on a new engine with better lighting.

5. adding an XP penalty for sitting in one spot all day, this would discourage camping and would support the run around whiz bang shooty fun that is call of duty

6. add an XP bonus for trying new weapons often, this would help reduce the whole "one gun" situation where one weapon in the game is seen all of the time because it is better than the others.

7. put the AK-74u back in the multiplayer, that gun sounded so cool...

8. increase the XP gain from assists, this would help players in a game where one guy essentially hogs all of the kills, and in return, all the xp
