The shame is that the possibilities available are not very often exploited by let's say 50% of the players; the class customisation was and is probably my favourite thing about CoD, gives you an opportunity to play against type and fine tune something for each purpose. It seems ridiculous but fine-tuning a custom class that works only in theory was satisfying, then again I'm not a 'play to win' type.

I'd be against removing fast-paced gameplay, simply because that's what CoD multiplayer is all about, but I'd certainly be up for slowing it down in the campaign, which is mostly what I personally play it for anyway.

Bring back the 'War' game mode from WaW, that was my favourite...demolition in Black Ops was fun, but...

As I just said in another thread, official visual mods that you can turn on or off in the option menu and it only effects your screen. Examples:

Full visual mods, such as cell shaded graphics, photo-realistic graphics (but brighter and more varied in color), or perhaps the white comic style that MadWorld on the Wii has...etc, etc.

Then much smaller visual mods, such as paint ball bullets that leave bright paint splattered everywhere, or bright laser bullets--Star Wars style. Maybe one to replace normal explosions with proton-type implosions of varying colors and brightness.

The smaller mods, particularly the ones that simply change bullet styles should be very easily done. The full mods might take a lot more time and money, but would still benefit the game as one of the biggest arguments against it is brown-greyness.

I think this is something they would do if we spread the message enough to get to them. It would completely change the atmostphere of the game and would benefit the player and Activision's wallet.

I've bought every COD game that has come out for the Xbox 360 (except COD 3). However, I am not planning on buying Black Ops 2. Why? I'm tired of buying the same game every year. Maybe it would seem a little less gloom if they spaced out the releases a little. With 2 companies making COD games, they are flooding us with them and I'm sure a lot of people are turned off by it. It's to the point that I'm just going to rent any COD game that comes out, blow through the campaign, and get rid of it. And I'm sure as hell not paying for crappy maps. I hate half the maps in MW3 anyway.

So, to summerize, space them out more.

If you want to go "realistic" than do it right, take away the wolverine healing factor entirely and rely on portable medical equipment that takes time to apply and heal.

Dedicated servers, get rid of all the perks that assist with hiding and camping (ghost assassin blind eye ), and reduce the kill streaks. Hell go back to the 3/5/7 class of COD4. Oh and a new engine with better hit detection wouldn't go a miss even if you have to extend the development cycle. Oh and get rid of deathstreaks, they just piss people off (last stand im looking at you)
Get rid of quickscoping, someone with a SMG should not lose to a sniper rifle in close quarters.
They should have to try to pull their secondary. Sniper rifles are long ranged weapons.

Oh and get rid of that elite bullshit.

I've only got into CoD recently but I'm digging MW3 more than BO. But my biggest problem with it is that the matchmaking is broken. Oftentimes I'll see the highest scorers from the previous match matched up against the lowest scorers and overall I'd say about 50% of the matches are way out of balance.
They also need to lower the amount of time that EMP is active for, some teams just spam that shit.

Well, the one thing that I think would improve the game happens to be what they're doing already - moving the setting into the near future using technology currently in the experimental stage. I'm not a fan of CoD, but I was quite pleasantly surprised when I saw the trailer for the latest installment of the series...

(This is gonna be a mix of Single and Multiplayer things I'd like to see changed)
No killstreaks
Harsher recoil (I wanna see some proper muzzleclimb and not just see the gun shake a bit)
Larger maps
More covert ops and less *BOOOM RATATATATA urgh ARRRRGH KABOOOOOOOM (CoD 4 pulled this one off a bit with the mission "All Ghillied Up")
A possibility of forming frontlines instead of having random spawn locations
Possibly some proper vehicular combat

I would say it's near impossible to "fix", but what most of the guys said, no killstreaks, less ranks and so on and on, but what i will add to the list is:
less brown and grey.

I don't care what you say, I'm going to go with 'stop making it'
that series seriously needs to be ended

Honestly I don't see any reason to change it. As I see it they have a successful thing going on. They make a game (which I personally don't care for) that takes little intelligent effort from the developer and they make enough money to buy themselves gold plated SUVs. Sonic needs some changes since those are games that don't sell.

No, "stop making it" is not an answer. I hear a lot of people complaining about chest high walls, brownness, set pieces, and the multiplayer (aside from some lag, no idea why); but never any ideas on how it could be made better.

So, who should make it, what should they keep, what should they get rid of, blah, blah, blah?
Play nice.
Fuck your stupid rules, I'm still going to say it. I would stop them making COD...

...until whatever developer could tell me why the game should be made bar "more money". That's really COD's problem. It's purely a product, rather than a game. If the developer really has something they want to do with the franchise, then it should get made. But until then, releasing the same game with minor changes every year or so is pretty disgusting.

My favorite Call of Duty games, in no particular order, 2, 4, WaW, BOps. I have NO idea why I love them all so much, even Bops and its single player campaign, but they seem to somehow be more fun. So yeah, apparently Treyarch, they seem to like trying new things, and it seems like the Treyarch Cod's are the less monochrome ones.

IW did great with CoD4, but after that they just dropped the ball.

How could it be made better?

Drop it.

Make a new IP with a fresh take on the genre/series, its stale.

I'd make one where you play a Middle Eastern/Russian/Cuban/Chinese super soldier gunning down Americans by the dozen.

Y'know, just to see the reaction.

No more fucking water temples.

Wait, shit, that was the other thing.
Err, I think COD would be much more fun (at least for me) if they just increased the running speed tenfold. It'd be like quake and frankly way more awesome.

Okay, thats probably a pretty shitty idea but I don't play a lot of COD (by which I mean none) so I don't really know.

Fix the spawns, map design, and hit detection.
I'd also do something (I'm not sure how) about the host buff that allows 1 player to be invincible, while the other players (usually the entire other team) die instantaneously.

I also like most of Smash's ideas.

More maps that have multiple range sets...sure Nuketown was fun for short range...but it granted free access for long ranged snipers to go house to house/side gate to side gate which allowed more aggressive defense while maintaining great symmetry
However when they try to recreate these situations it usually ends up with a wide open area that anybody can see anyone allowing snipers to dominate the zones or LMGs to decimate an area through spray and pray...the maps generally lack direction and always have lopsided choke points that make it too easy when they place an objective there for someone to either attack or defend it(depending on the area) unlike other areas that have many vantage points for both sides to counter these issues

what did i do?
