Many times do you see the characters on TV; those people whose lives suck, & think everything sux. Those people whose lives are great, & are rocking it out to their graves.

It doesn't matter whether you think you've got it good compared to others. Relativity is not the point. How do YOU feel about your life?

Think of this poll as a statistical study. I'm actually curious to know how many people feel what about their lives.

My life sux btw.

I voted lifes great because I think all perception is based on attitude; if your feeling stressed you need to stop worrying about things you can't control and take life on one day at time.

Life is a roller coaster. You can't really enjoy the highs without suffering the lows.

It's good in that I find the humor in the things that should make it suck.

Internet not work at all at my dorm? My roommate and I threaten everyone working at the whole hotel (in jest) with his little pocket knife.

Windows crashed for again and stopped everything from working on my laptop, probably losing most of my data? Think about throwing my laptop out a window and the send the pieces back, demanding that they send me a new one as per my warranty. Actually, probably going to do this over Christmas break.

So I'll say "Good."

Is that really true? I've read about "Duality", & I've heard many people quote what you said, but can't that be unbalanced? Can't you have, say, a bad year in school, & spend the rest of your life in luxury & fun, without any bad sides to your life, until you die? Can't you have a great childhood, & everything goes downhill from there forever, to the point that even if you TRY to have fun, you can't? This is purely theoretical of course, but can't it be?

Its not surprising at the results Escapist forum goes tend to be jaded and not pleased with the world. Hence its a forum focus on in depth discussion on how games could be better.

Unfortunately it just doesn't work that way. There really is a peak to how "happy" or "satisfied" a person can feel. For instance, if I give a poor man a half a million dollars, he's going to be extremely happy. Happier then an already established billionaire would be if I gave him the same amount of money. I don't care how luxurious and "fun" your life appears to be, your frontal lobe will always make sure you still have anxieties, fears, and regrets lurking beneath your eyes.

I read a fantastic book that goes into great detail about happiness, how we remember our happiness, how we fail to understand how we'll feel about our future, and this subject in general. It's called Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert. I actually found out about it from an interview on the Colbert Report.

Also, if you generally want to try to understand duality and the principles of Ying and Yang, etc.. I'd take a peek at the Tao Te Ching, which was written in the 6th century. Or, even its wikipedia page. It's a fascinating piece and can really grab you and pull you in, if you let it.
