Let me start off this thread by telling a small story.

Today, while playing multiplay on Gears of War, a few guys joined the room. My boyfriend was hosting, but I was doing pretty darn good that game. (Side note: I have a VERY powerful Gears1 shotgun, I don't know why.) Basically the smack talk began and they said how they were going to rape us and crap like that. I told the guys, "I doubt it"

Round after round, I kept beating the guys. No cheating, no active downs, hell I didn't even hit them. I popped one guy's head with a pistol. I was pretty much on fire.
But instead of admitting defeat and just SHUTTING THE FUCK UP, the guys kept on running their mouths. Well, since they couldn't win in a fair fight, they began to use cheap moves to kill our team and then a friend of theirs joined our team and team killed us (only once, he got destroyed by three cogs afterwards).

I told the guys to be quiet and let me talk to their ring leader for a second and I asked him this question.
"If you and I were fighting one on one and I beat you, would you admit that I had beat you?"
The guy said he would and then we got into a shotgun battle, just me and him, and I was the victor.

Long story short, he didn't admit defeat. He said I was cheap and that I was host, even though he saw me leave the room and come back.

I guess my question to you all is... Would you admit that you've been bested in a game?

Yep, I'm very humble in fact I'm more humble than most people. Hell, I'm the humblest of them all!

I'll only admit defeat to someone who is truly better than I am, and that doesn't happen too often.

Yes I would. And I have been numerous times as well.

But only if they didn't use cheap tricks or just spamming something to do so.

Possily rantish. It just brought up the question. I've had to admit defeat a few times. I just find it strange how some people will so zealously deny defeat. It's strange.

I'll be nice and congratulate people who kill me in a impressive way, and I've had it back aswell.

Until I know how many insults you can take I won't smack talk or anything, and I only tend to push it with people that know I'm joking, in which case I'll try and make you cry.

Yep. Except in COD4. BECAUSE NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ME! MUAHAHAHAHA.

*Ahem*

On a more serious note, I always will in games I'm new to, since I usually suck at them. Or in PC games. I really suck at those.

No way I'm so much humbler than you. Also, random comments about things your mother and I may or may not have done.

But seriously folks, I don't feel like I have to hide the fact that I was beaten. But by the same token I don't feel the need to lord my victories over others. Some people just get really touchy about that sort of thing. It's best to just ignore them (and maybe giggle a little as you make them kiss the dirt repeatedly).

If it looks funny I will lol.

Me and my friends will laugh if someone has an utterly hilarious death.

Ex:
I was walking in halo 3 in a custom sniper match 1 v 1. The bullet bounces off 3 walls and lands back and headshots me making my friend win the game. I said congrats and laughed.

If someone says I lost to them then its a different story.

I'm kind of at the two ends of the spectrum when it comes to winning and losing. When I win, I win by a lot. When I lose, it's an absolute slaughter.

So yeah, with me, it's not really so much "admitting defeat" as it is "me apologizing for getting bits of brain on your shoe".

All the time. I'm pretty good but I can't bring myself to be a bad sport, especially when I have to sow my butt back together after a major beating.

I'm fairly humble. I will usually admit defeat, unless we're playing against assholes. Then I will admit defeat even more graciously or not at all. It depends on my mood, really.

Some people are just born as **** nuggets. My cousin wanted me to beat his mate in a cage match on Cod4, because his mate was boasting about great he was. He got he first kill by camping, then I cooked a nade and threw it at same sot he killed me, he was still there.
I was generally getting most of the kills, but he got some fair ones. Then after I get upstair of a building to look for him, I saw him and killed him. He accused me of camping...when I just went up to check the map.
Later on I heard him following me, so I hid behind a door and knifed him. He tehn qui and said I was cheating because I know where he was alot fo the time (he fired random shots, and I could hear his footsteps.
Some people will just refuse to admit defeat becuse of their damn ego.
You sir, are very correct. Some people have egos so large, they believe that they are the greatest thing ever. Or they're just assholes. And love your description of them.

Your so humble.
Yes I would admit defeat so long as that person isn't going to use it as ammunition for smack talk and isn't a general ass hole.
