Something that always comes to mind, everytime I play it is: Why?
Its an MMORPG with shitty graphics, slow and boring gameplay, and yet I think its fun
Maybe its because I play in small doses, only half an hour in one sitting or maybe its the variety of quest I dont know.
If you hate it tell me why or if you like it tell me why

Out of all of them I would choose WoW, ONLY becuase WoW has better lore and backstories (I came too late into Everquest and didn't want to read through the novel of lore waiting for me)

I'm a player of RuneScape and I tend to like it for the lighthearted humour that gets dotted around the game, and when you're not doing grinding activeties (and there is stonkloads of grinding to do) the gameplay can be called fun.
It's hard to complain when it costs a fraction of most MMORPGs, runs in your browser (making it easy to play at work) and gets fresh content nearly every week. Plus they killed gold farming at the start of the year and gave the graphics a jolt of electricity recently.

Somehow I'm remided of that other thread about graphics being too important...

And where the hell is Guild Wars on that list. Atleast include other instead of tiny selection.

I really dont find the poll fair. I hate every MMO on there(especially WOW AND Runescape)yet I still play MMOS LIKE AoC and COH. Next time, could you have a bigger poll?

I played RuneScape for a while and really enjoyed it. I eventually got a one month membership and enjoyed it even more. Then my membership ran out and I couldn't get myself to throw out my members stuff, so I stopped playing. For me it doesn't feel like pointless grind, and if I do have to grind I'll play some music and talk to people, which makes it fun. And there are enough (fun) quests to keep me entertained.

EDITS: If you had Guildwars on the list I would have voted for that. You rarely ever have to grind to gain levels, and the PvP and quests are fun.

None. I played Runescape for a while when I was like 13 and I had awesome mining skillz, but then I realised how repetitive and unfulfilling MMOs like that were and stopped. I then tried WOW on a friends PC a few months ago now, and found it to be immeasurably boring, resulting in me just standing in the middle of a town repeatedly going /dance and /wave at all passers-by for about 10 minutes.

There should be an "other" added to that list, I mean what about a classic like Ragnarok, or a game like AR/AO

I liked it better before they turned the graphics to 3d and made mining nodes have a set amount of ore that could be mined before it disappeared. It just made what was a mildly tedious, yet oddly fun game into a tedious grindfest.

That. The only MMO that's gripped me was eve online, because I love space. All these elves and orks and dwarves bore me to death. They're so clichéd.

I say runescape. I agree, while their is the repetitive grinding, some of the elements are different. One quest you have to know what the Fibonacci number sequence (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21...). I like that the graphics are not the best, because then you can get on a semi recent computer and play it.

Although I know a great MMORPG. It is called KoL, or Kingdom of Loathing. It is turn based so you don't get too addicted to it. But their is VERY little grinding in that game what so ever. Even the classes you get to be are different. Such as: Pastamancer, Disco Bandit, Turtle tamer. They sound weird, but the game is really good.

*Hiss*

I hate all MMORPG's with a passion. They ruined a friend, sucked away a year of my life, and in general, suck.

I played runescape for about a month, then got taken to the wilderness and robbed by mages, despite the fact that I was about three times stronger physically and was macing them repeatedly in the face, to no effect.

I didn't mind this too much, until I realized that the robbers in question were in primary school, whilst I was finishing grade 11.

Then I had a revelation. Runescape is just a competition to see who can waste the most time! There was little to no skill involved, the fighting was kinda stupid (in the same way that Hope and Faith is kinda the worst piece of shit ever to come out of America) and the key demographic was small children or pathetic older gents.

I guess if your msn's fucked it could make an almost decent substitute, but barring that, it is something to be avoided like the plague in my opinion.
