I've always felt that the idea that aliens built the pyramids or drew the Nazca undermines Human intelligence. While they were probably astounding displays of geometry and architecture, they were within their abilities.

Think about it: the first successful steam engine was made about 300 years ago, a short amount of time in human history. Now we are on the brink of harnessing nuclear fusion! The same stuff that powers the stars! I would hate it if 2000 years from now, people think that we were too stupid to think of nuclear power on our own and needed help from an alien spaghetti space god!
