Poll: I take offense to that!

People have been annoying me of late, in that people seem to take offense to the smallest, most insignificant things when often it does not even relate to them and, really, should not be offensive at all. A prime example I can think of off the top of my head is the RAA commercial aired in South Australia (sorry can't find a link) where they were talking about indian call centers and make a joke about curries or something. Now ONE white, average, south australian woman called in and said that this was offensive to people of indian decent. The add was promptly banned from airing. There are many more examples I just can't think of them at the moment.

So I don't know if this is just me but I'm tired of this, people complaining, not only about small things, but things that don't even relate to them and they think they are heros because they are standing up for black or gay rights or whatever (I don't want to be stereotypical, but generally these people are middle aged white women i.e. my mother). No you are not heros, stop complaining about pointless things and find something better to do with your time. Get a Life.

we live in a society where people are constantly presented with things that are offensive. "Black" boards, "white" bread, "Chinese" take-away food. I long for the day when all peoples of the world can gather together and sing "Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep" in harmony and peace.

(Sarcasm aside: People get "offended" by the simplest and stupidest things. Really I think that no one actually gets offended, it's just that we're all so afraid of being politically incorrect that certain people feel they must police the thoughts and words of the rest of the population...)

Many people just need to chill for a second. If they lay back a little bit, life can be so much easier. When people make jokes about the Indian stereotype, then it's ok. It's a great charakter trait if you can laugh about yourself.
About that white average middle-aged woman (stereotype ahead!): These kind of folks are bored to the core and just want something to spice up their lives. They have no hobbies, maybe are even unemployed, so they have nothing to do. In Germany it's the seniors. Because of their boredom they start a fight with their neighbours, complaining about every little shit there is. These conflicts can last for years. It's seroius business for them, I assume.
I almost feel for pity them if I wouldn't hate them so much.

I only get offended if it directly relates to me and is said purely out of hate and spite. I can take humour, I'm not going to sit down and take direct insults.

And people using Gay for Bad sort of annoys me, but not enough to get actually angry about.

The one that I always get annoyed with is the HOV lanes here. They are essentially lanes for cars with multiple passengers only. The number you can call to report people not obeying the law is something like 1-888-242-HERO. Really? Hero? No, just no.

well im a bit on both sides, i find it offensive when people make "jokes" about gays, and im not talking some clever funny joke, but more the line of hatred followed by "relax it was just a joke", oh and females who think of gay men as puppys "oooh i so want a gay friend they are so cute and it can follow me around and help me find cloth and uhhh"

but i think we should be able to make fun of everyone (as long as it actually a joke, saying oh boy i sure do want to murder all the gays, handicapped and non white whit a knife...just kidding, is not a joke) and that, uh lets say, a game can have black hostile npcs without being called racist.

I really like the old people who complain about everything, especially when the insist that censorship run rampant.

We don't need this filth in the form of bare breasts (male breasts are ok, they are far less objectionable), fould language (I mean honestly, I don't want to ever have my ears tainted by the word fuck). Implied voilence and slapstick are fine though, so long as it isn't over the top gore (video games withstanding).

...Yeah, it's beyond stupid. Some of the things they've banned are so unbeleivable tame I can't actually work out how they justify it.
