Energy shots? Seem unnecessary, but I've never tried 'em. Having said that, could use one right now!

I think "energy drinks" taste like medicated piss.

If I require some sort of magic juice to energize myself, I've been awake too long.

I think it tastes like vomit, and it doesn't work at all for me. I stick with coffee. Thing I don't get about it is the "no crash later" nonsense. That doesn't make sense. You have to crash at some point. Otherwise chugging the stuff would keep you awake indefinitely, and obviously that doesn't work.

I think all energy drinks are garbage and the fact that my older brother chugs them down worries me. Monster is horrifying.
The "no crash" is about the lack of a sugar crash. If you eat a lot of candy/drink a lot of sweet drinks most people want to sleep for a week when the sugar wears off. With 5 hour energy the idea is you go back to how you were before drinking it (plus the amount of time from drinking til it wears off). So you are tired at that point but not as bad as a sugar crash.

My friend drank five of them on a dare once. He had to have his stomach pumped, and if he'd drank one more he quite possibly could have died.
And thats why it says "don't drink more than 2 in 24 hours" on the bottle.

Everyone at my work drinks them. We sell them at the front counters. They all swear by them for long shifts. I've never had one, but they said that you have to drink it fast so you don't taste it. They also say I works.

I've never been a fan of any energy drink that isn't mixed with alcohol. I have enough energy as it is.

I like the slight edgy feeling coursing through me when wired. Nothing to do with energising, but that's its secondary function when a couple hours' sleep is missed, you can drop one and feel awake for at best an hour and a half, which is handy. It doesn't really add energy, so you have to make it up eventually.

5 hour shots are overrated as hell, they just take most of the water out of the equation of an energy drink. They're not particularly large to begin with, so save yourself 2/3ds of the price and buy these badboys:

They taste horrible, but they are so small it doesn't really matter.

The key to using them is to make sure you have eaten ACTUAL food beforehand.

The way they work is that they contain B vitamins and enzymes(and some other stuff) that help you release energy from food. These drinks don't only give you energy, but are also a catalyst for obtaining it.

In my experience they give a much more natural feeling of energy than straight caffeine/sugar drinks. Plus they seem like they would be much more healthy than drinking a large energy drink filled with nasty stuff.

I think that five hour energy or any energy drink for that matter, that is drank casually is going to cause serious medical problems in the future. I only drink coffe, I don't need sugar water or some caffine pills masquerading as shots to keep me awake. Probably because I don't go to be at five in the fucking morning.

...Where in the hell is it inappropriate to carry a SODA?

Maybe in the place where they're filming those "The biggest looser" shows. That would just be cruel... But seriously, where on earth are they going to go "A SODA?? No way. That's not coming through here!"?

Simple enough. I'm curious to see how many people actually use this product and what their basic feeling for it is. Personally, I think it tastes like shit. I have to strain myself not to puke it all up when I down it. Gives me no energy either. I'd be better off drinking soda for all the good this crap does. Hell, the smell of the drink itself is enough to wake me up. Worst energy product in my opinion. What about ya'll? Feel free to discuss.
try the berry flavor it's taste is a little more bearable (in my opinion) and it works as well as a monster and other energy products without giving me twitches
are there better energy options? yes but will it work for me? yeah

Any event where you wear a suit
Service provider (Business consultant, IT at large firm, etc)
Coca Cola Corps (When you are a Pepsi kind of guy)

There is no reason why it should make you more awake than a cup of coffee. It doesn't contain a lot of caffeine, but enough to do something. The only possible use for it I could imagine is to alleviate a hangover, seeing as it contains quite a few B vitamins, but it doesn't contain any other ingredient that would give you energy by themselves. Any feeling of energy you get from it beyond approximately 1 hour (bio-half life of caffeine is ~30min) is likely due to placebo effect.

Maybe I'm taking them for the wrong reason, as I use energy drinks for sports, but 5 hour energy has never held up to other energy drinks for me.

I don't know what business meetings you go to, but nobody would check my suitcase to see if I have sodas with me. They might object to you having a drink during the meeting though (why, I'll never understand), but nothing's keeping you from carrying it and drinking it before or after.

Army (official business)
Yeah, but the army is choke full of ridiculous rules, so hardly a good example of anything.

'Public Speaking' Scenario
See #1.

Any event where you wear a suit
Maybe where you live...

Service provider (Business consultant, IT at large firm, etc)
If you're standing near the servers themselves, I'd say they'd be careful about letting you handle anything at all that might spill.

Coca Cola Corps (When you are a Pepsi kind of guy)
Oh come on, you're just grasping at straws.

5 second reply bullshit. Takes longer than that to type the quotes.

For one, if you have it in your suitcase, you can't drink it to keep you awake, can you? Unless you run to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

For two, the IT thing is more inline with support. You can't go running up to peoples desks with soda bottles.

And I wasn't grasping a straws, its a joke.

The back of the bottle states that drinking more than two within 24 hours is dangerous to human health. It also states that if you are going to drink two, to separate them by several hours.

On topic: I find the Berry flavor to be fantastic! Whether or not I feel "invigorated" by 5-hour energy is based on where I'm at.

If it is 7am and I'm trying to use it for all-nighter purposes, it will give me a couple extra hours.

If I use it at the beginning of a workout it definitely gives me a boost.

Moral of the story: use it before you are tired, it will work more effectively!
