I think it tastes like vomit, and it doesn't work at all for me. I stick with coffee. Thing I don't get about it is the "no crash later" nonsense. That doesn't make sense. You have to crash at some point. Otherwise chugging the stuff would keep you awake indefinitely, and obviously that doesn't work.

I think all energy drinks are garbage and the fact that my older brother chugs them down worries me. Monster is horrifying.
"No crash" doesn't mean that you'll never feel tired. Energy drinks and massive amounts of caffeine make you "crash". (i.e. you go from being wired to exhausted in an incredibly short amount of time, usually only a few minutes.) My experience with 5-Hour Energy, you just start to gradually get tired again.

I like it myself. It tastes like shit, but when I'm pulling an all-nighter, I can at least get through the next day without that dazed, zoned out feeling.

5 second reply bullshit. Takes longer than that to type the quotes.
I didn't say it took me 5 seconds to type it.

For one, if you have it in your suitcase, you can't drink it to keep you awake, can you? Unless you run to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

For two, the IT thing is more inline with support. You can't go running up to peoples desks with soda bottles.
...Why can't you just drink it before you go into the meeting? Or, go to the bathroom, 2 minutes, drink it, and come back? How long does it take you to drink a soda?

And I wasn't grasping a straws, its a joke.
Oh... If you say so.

Simple enough. I'm curious to see how many people actually use this product and what their basic feeling for it is. Personally, I think it tastes like shit. I have to strain myself not to puke it all up when I down it. Gives me no energy either. I'd be better off drinking soda for all the good this crap does. Hell, the smell of the drink itself is enough to wake me up. Worst energy product in my opinion. What about ya'll? Feel free to discuss.
try the berry flavor it's taste is a little more bearable (in my opinion) and it works as well as a monster and other energy products without giving me twitches
are there better energy options? yes but will it work for me? yeah
You know, I'll give you that one. The berry flavor is probably the most bearable flavor option offered, especially compared to the orange flavor (that shit is fucking nasty). Still doesn't help the fact that it all tastes pretty damn bad, but yeah. You definitely got a point there.

Meh, it's alright. It tastes like crap, but it does provide a decent amount of energy.

The claim that you won't crash after it wears out is bullshit, though. Once that stuff wears off, you don't just crash like your standard energy drink or coffee, you become as attentive as a steamed vegetable.

There's a comic -- possibly Penny Arcade, although I couldn't find it to be sure -- that lays out why I'll never drink a 5 Hour Energy, or any other energy shot for that matter. It's a shot of chemicals, with pretty much nothing else to it. If I wanted that, I'd take a pill. Energy drinks in general have ridiculous amounts of caffeine, as in dangerous levels. I stick to Vault Soda, Mountain Dew, and the occasional cup of coffee if I really need the caffeine boost.

As an aside, I've always felt that marketing these energy drinks to teenagers has been the single most brilliant yet evil business move since big tobacco did the same thing with cigarettes. Think about it; caffeine is highly physically addictive. Keep any coffee drinker away from their morning coffee and see how they do -- or better yet, don't, assuming you value your own safety. Energy drinks have caffeine levels comparable to a cup of coffee, but teenagers drink them like they would a soda, because that's essentially what they are. Teenagers drink sodas like water, because they're just as hydrating, and taste much better. They aren't really thinking about the fact that they're also consuming seriously high levels of an addictive stimulant. Coffee drinkers, on the other hand, generally have one mug in the morning, with additional drinks as they get tired during the work day.

I heard it tastes awful. Some kid in my English class drank it a few times and said it tasted like cough syrup and a little bit of vomit.

My friend drank five of them on a dare once. He had to have his stomach pumped, and if he'd drank one more he quite possibly could have died.
The back of the bottle states that drinking more than two within 24 hours is dangerous to human health. It also states that if you are going to drink two, to separate them by several hours.

On topic: I find the Berry flavor to be fantastic! Whether or not I feel "invigorated" by 5-hour energy is based on where I'm at.

If it is 7am and I'm trying to use it for all-nighter purposes, it will give me a couple extra hours.

If I use it at the beginning of a workout it definitely gives me a boost.

Moral of the story: use it before you are tired, it will work more effectively!
So a product where you drink 2 or more within a day and die is okay if they warn you about it?

I used to have two jobs during summer vacations from school. One was at a TCBY and one was at a Gamestop. My bosses generally refused to schedule me on the same day even though I told them I was fine with it. Well, the first time it did happen I picked up a 5 hour energy (I'd had never tried an energy drink) before starting my afternoon/night shift at Gamestop.

I drank the 5 Hour Energy at 4:15, started working at 4:30 and by 7 I had done everything that my manager had set out for me to do for the entire day (which she said should've taken me until 11 to finish). I stood behind the counter shortly after 7 and couldn't hold my hands still, and my manager go worried because my eyes were darting back and forth in my head without me controlling them. I was sweating and could not for the life of me stand still. My manager told me to go lie down in the back for a little while but I couldn't do that. I physically could not be still.

I was scared out of my mind because I'd never experienced anything like that before. I later found out from a subsequent doctor's appointment that I have a minor heart condition and could've done some serious damage had I continued to consume energy drinks.

Now I can't even have good'ol caffeine :-(

I haven't touched an energy drink since.

Too much of anything will cause death. Even simple water.

Furthermore, what is right for one person might not be right for another. 5-hour energy doesn't contain "harmful chemicals" any more so than other energy drinks.

What separates 5-hour energy from, say, Monster, is that 5-hour energy has Vitamin B12, B6, Folic acid, and Niacin. These are not harmful chemicals, they are in almost all vitamins.

And yes -- too much of just about any vitamin/mineral can cause bodily harm or even death.

There is nothing wrong with the product -- only Darwin-award winners that cannot be bothered to read instructions.

The drink itself is meh, a tad too tart, but not bad for an energy drink.

No what really pisses me off is that annoying commercial the play over and over.

imagine this, only it plays for every video on the internet, and every commercial break on TV. You'll see why it gets people pissy.
