Suppose that instead of having a period each month, every girl past puberty and pre menopause would pop out a fist sized egg that has a shape and texture very similar to a chicken egg. Now these eggs, if fertilized, would have grown and eventually hatched into a human baby. But nobody wants to have a baby every month they lay an egg, right? So instead of just wasting what is essentially a large chicken egg you could probably just fry it up and eat it. Do you think it would be morally wrong to eat unfertilized human eggs? Would it count as cannibalism? Would stores sell dozens of human eggs instead of chicken eggs? Would you feel comfortable being served your mother's/sister's/friend's/significant other's egg? If you are a girl would you eat your own eggs?

I would be completely fine with it, in fact I'd probably prefer it as it's bigger than a chicken egg and therefore more filling. I don't really see any issue as (a) it's tasty food and (b) it's not even a fertilised egg, if you reject it because it has the potential for life, you might as well shun women every month.

Also I would start creating a free-range human farm, advertise the hell out of it, and corner the market.

Humans do, and no one does.

Cannibalism is a bad idea because of the concentration of environmental poisons in any high order predator. Same reason it's not a good idea to eat any predator.

I thought, just as a general rule, cannibalism was frowned upon. If humans had developed culture and whatnot while laying eggs, however, there's no telling how acceptable the practice would be. I'm thinking maybe they could be used for other stuff, like soil fertilization (iunno, just making stuff up), or feeding them to livestock. Or burning them or burying them, as a cultural practice. Kinda the way we dispose of our dead.

Ok this is too weird :p
I don't think it would count as cannibalism but I still think it would be very disgusting.

Would it be wrong to eat them? If the girl doesn't want them, then no.

Would I eat them? No, I hate regular eggs bad enough, human eggs sound less appealing. Then there's the risk of disease from eating something that came fresh out of another human and their toxins, especially whatever medications they're taking.

Uhm... no? You do realise that cannibalism fucks you over pretty bad?

Wasn't it bad enough when some genius thought of feeding cows cow brain?

This sounds like some kind of sexual fetish. If women could lay eggs, it would certainly be a popular one.

At any rate, in my current mindframe of course I would not eat human eggs. However, if I grew up always being told it was okay, then sure. But currently it seems way too much like cannibalism for me to partake in it.

I don't think majority of us would do something like that.
I see it similarly to milk.
Women can lactate up to year.
But I don't see that much consumption of breast milk by other adults.

As for me, I would try it at least once.

In the deepest, darkest recesses of the internet, it already is. And I really, really wish I was joking. :(

OT: Hey, whatever man. People cook with semen, so why the fuck not?

Pretty sure eating an egg produced by humans would be taboo. Just look at how socially unacceptable it is to eat anything humans produce, even if it is perfectly healthy to consume, like breast milk.

What. The. Fuck.
First of all, yes it would count as cannibalism, and aside from the moral implications, it would probably have some very bad side-effects.
Secondly, out of pure curiosity, what suddenly brought this question to mind?

(Please note, I'm not being harsh here, even though it could be read that way.)

Well in nature, lots of mammals eat their own placenta once the new born is birthed, and animals who lay eggs often eat the unfertilized ones, since it's a good source of protein. We think differently now because we don't lay eggs, but if we always have laid eggs, I suppose the situation might be different. I, for one, wouldn't really care whatever the situation was (I hate eggs, can't stand the smell).

Also, this is the weirdest thread I have ever laid eyes on in the escapist. Congrats OP.

it would definitely give the wording "eating a girl out" a more acurate meaning...
You win a hard-boiled human egg.

And many weird stares. You clever bastard.

To be fair though, that's probably because the ovum expelled each month can barely be seen by the naked eye, rather than any particular moral or hygienic concerns.

OT: I would eat them if they were safe to consume, there might be a risk of diseases or parasites migrating through them though so would have to be checked out first.

A curious thought.

Would the egg already have environmental poisons in it? They havent been in an environment other than their mother, and doesnt the mothers body filter a lot of toxins?
They do to a degree, but in the same way smoking and alcohol will affect the fetus, so will just generally what you eat.

Wouldn't that be cannibalism? Doesn't cannibalism cause harmful effects to the brain?

I suppose it depends on which parts of a human you eat. There is always the increased risk of disease like Kuru (fatal and often brought about by consuming the brain). Muscles would likely be a safer option than eggs, which I doubt I could bring myself to eat, even if there were no health risks.
