So you could paint the baby's room pink or blue?

But that also raises the question. If you're having a baby who's gay what color would you paint it?
My bad... by "that", I meant it's sexuality.

I am straight, and I would like my kid to be straight. Now before I'm called a homophobe its not because of that. The world discriminates against, though not quite as often anymore, homosexuals and I dont want my kid going through any pain for his/her sexual orientation. Its less about being gay, and more for the how the kid is treated by others.

EDIT: Also I think being gay is not a choice.

Okay then. Decide to be gay for a day, go out and have sex with a guy and see how much you enjoy it. Then we'll know whether or not your theory is true.

Well, because there are a lot of things that you're going to want to have ready for when your baby is born, you won't have much time to be going out shopping for the right color clothes or paint or toys. It makes it much easier to have all your ducks in a row beforehand.

He may not be willing to take up that challenge, but the human mind is capable of great things, and we are still struggling to comprehend how it works. I wouldn't be so fast as to put it past someone to be able to be turned on by a same-sex person at will, you wouldn't be giving enough credit to our complex inner workings.

I mean, what if someone just likes sex, and is willing to have sex with anything, like a "Quagmire" type persona. Does that mean the person is gay? Nope, it just means they may be sort of a perv, however.

I've told my partner that if it turns out that I'm only ever having boys (and trust me, the possibilities are higher than high) then I'm turning one of our sons gay :p.

Seriously though, I would prefer heterosexual kids but in the end as long as I have healthy babies who grow up to be decent human beings then I'm not going to complain.

I can still have non-gender specific things ready for the baby. I'm not really one for the 'pink for a girl, blue for a boy' thing. And you can't ever be 100% sure til the baby's (or babies') born anyway, so I'd prefer not to know. It's one of the few pleasant surprises left in life, and I'd like it that way. Makes life more interesting.

Fair enough, I was just giving you reasons as to why someone would, not saying you should. I found out with both my kids, and I haven't really been short on surprises from either of them. I knew they were going to be either a boy or a girl, but never would have estimated my daughter's ability to climb any surface in seconds. You also have to be prepared for eveyone to tell you what a nice little girl you have when they are talking to your son, or vice versa. Even just a nice pink or blue cap can eliminate the awkward feeling the other party gets when they fail to guess your babys gender, and your feeling of awkwardness for having to correct people all the time.

That probably wouldn't bother me... I'd be more entertained by them looking uncomfortable after I'd corrected them!
Anyways, knowing how overboard my mum gets for buying pink/blue stuff anytime anyone she knows has a baby, I'm sure when she gets a grandchild, she'll go nuts, and my entire life will turn pink/blue within days! So it wouldn't be a problem for long!

p.s. there's a climbing equipment company called 'Petzl' who make teeny-tiny climbing harnesses if you need one for your daughter!

I WANNA BE A GRANDPA, DAMNIT! Joking, joking. But honestly, screwing with genes seems wrong. Somehow, my kid will end up with two heads if I do.

Um, no. Gravity is a law, not a theory.

I'm sick of people in debates responding to "it's only a theory" with "Well so is ____," as if ALL theories are equally right. To suggest all theories are equally correct is VERY flawed logic. (An that's putting it politely.)

Some theories are pretty well accepted. Some are still being debated. Just because SOME theories are 99% agreed upon by scientists doesn't mean all theories are. Some theories cannot be proven, like how the universe was created. Some theories are still being researched, and we're still learning new things about them.

No, there technically is no "law of gravitation." We still have not discovered the particle responsible (nicknamed the graviton) for gravity. Thus, gravity remains a theory. Further experiments and [hopefully] the discovery of the Higgs-Boson when the LHC comes back online may further this, but as it stands, gravity is a theory.

Extremely hypothetical question, considering the gay gene is nothing more than a myth created to rationalize homosexuality...

Gravity is not a theory, it is a factual, physical phenomenon that anyone can observe. Theories involving gravity are ones that try to explain the how and the why, not ones that question gravity's validity.

Why? Just because I feel it should be that way. I don't approve of Homosexuality, but as long as you aren't a flamer, you know, a "HEEEEYYYYYY GUUUUYYYSSS!" kind of gay, then I'm fine with you.

All Homosexuals who were offended by this post: Sorry.
I'm sure you'll find plenty of homosexuals who get pissed off by gay men who play into that stereotype too.
I am one of those gays. In the nicest way, I can't STAND the flamboyant types.
Me and you both. Flamboyant gays make me uncomfortable, the sound of their voice, their personalities, ughh just everything. I like guys that look like guys. Anyway I voted for change my kid straight because it really sucks being gay growing up, especially in certain areas (Hawaii fml).
Oh, come on. People have the right to express themselves. Although it is not an accurate depiction of the gay community as a whole, they have a right to express themselves. That said, I do have some flamboyant tendencies of my own, so I'm a bit biased there.

Someone fails genetics!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanatophoric_dysplasia

I wonder how that genetic disorder that causes people to be stillborn or never live past infancy keeps on happening... oh, it's because you don't necessarily have to have the condition itself to pass on the genes for it.

Also, it's definitely not impossible for a homosexual man to have sex with a woman and to therefore pass on genes. Ted Haggard is a good example of this: he has five children and is apparently homosexual.

I giggled there...
But on a serious note, they are who they are, I wouldn't change that.

Whatever, whatever... Thanks for bringing up a comment of mine from months ago though, that was totally worth it.

Also, I never implied homosexuals can't reproduce. And Ted Haggard is a fucking closeted evangelist liar hypocrite.
