I don't really care. I would prefer if my kid was straight, yes, since homosexuality brings a lot of problems- social, biological, sexual diseases etc.- but I wouldn't change them.

If that's how they were meant to be, then I wouldn't make a fuss.

I don't think my (future) husband will have the same opinion though. Men are usually (meaning, not always) less open-minded about homosexuality.

Being gay doesn't mean that you will get a sexual disease. Anyone could, not just gay people.
I meant, you're more open to sexual diseases since anal sex is more dirty and spreads viruses more easily -like Freddy Mercury.

In ancient times, most gay men died of syphilis.
Well, we can prevent it nowadays, but it's still more risky than straight sex (under the same conditions, i'm not counting hookers)
I don't really see what point you're making there; Gay men arn't the only people who practice anal sex, and the fact that wearing a condom will protect you anyway invalidates your whole post.

Besides, the fastest growing group of HIV infected people is young heterosexual men.
I was talking about the normal ways to have sex-alternatives (and fetishes) for straight couples don't count.
Gay men mostly practice anal sex, and it's more risky than the traditional style imo.

Explain to me how it's more risky so long as the participants use protection.

Ok, ok, I know america's all "use protection " but in truth, not that many ppl do use protection, why do you think there's such a large growth in teen pregnancies?

Because the conservatives push for abstinence-only education?
The teen pregnancy rates mostly increase in those states.

That's got nothing to do with what I asked you.

The fact is that anal sex with a condom has no higher chance of passing on STDs than procreative sex with a condom.

Anal sex is only more risky if a condom is not used, and even then only by a slight margin. The only reason HIV spread so quickly amongst gay men when it was discovered was because anal sex between two males had no risk of pregnancy, so a condom was not used. Nowadays, gay people are no more at risk for STDs than straight people are if they follow the same safety procedures.

i assumed that you meant vaginal intercourse, but the idea that vaginal intercourse is the ONLY type of sex that can be considered 'normal' is kind of absurd. plenty of couples have oral/anal/manual sex at least half of the time, gay or straight.

lack of comprehensive sex ed. american teenagers have about the same amount of sex as teenagers in european countries, but our rate of teen pregnancy and disease is much higher. kids don't wear condoms because they haven't been taught to do so and they don't have free and anonymous access.

Wouldn't care much. Although it could give me a heads up on what clothes to buy them when they're growing up. Dresses if they're boys, and lumberjack attire if they're girls.
that would be transgenderism, which has nothing to do with homosexuality. but if your children really end up transgendered, you'll be able to tell at an early age.

Edit: There's no way around it. You can choose to be gay, and people have done it. Yes, some people, maybe even the majority are born gay, but it doesn't mean it is also not a choice in a lot of cases. Unless you want to get into the argument of more/less gay, which I doubt is a road anyone, especially someone as understanding as yourself would want to go down.
as a friend of mine likes to say, "if you can choose to be gay, you're a bisexual."

we can totally get into the argument of more/less gay. gender identity isn't binary, neither is sexual preference.

Where's the option for bisexuals? Anyway I wouldn't care what my child's sexual orientation was, just as long as he or she made me proud to be their father.

People don't seem to realize that just because being gay itself shouldn't be a reason to discriminate, or lack rights or values, that being gay is still a disability.

This is like asking if you know your son is going to have no legs, if you want to give him legs. Homosexuality is not the way we are meant to be, it is still a disability, why should the children have to grow up because people are squeamish about political correctness.

I wouldn't even want to have the test done to find out. I would want it all to be a surprise and if I did know I wouldn't change it.

Pretty much every homosexual ever would disagree with you. How exactly are homosexuals disabled?

You... I... wait, what? A disability is a medico-legal term with a specific definition - a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits major life activities. Homosexuality fits neither clause.

Just curious, but how is this right?

"Homosexuality is not the way we are meant to be, it is still a disability"

Do you have proof that it is a disability?
