Pac-Man was already legendary.

Now there is a better version... I fail to see the problem.

Compared to other Arcade games maybe it is incredible. The ranking system isn't necessarily intended to compare certain numbers with other games of the same number, especially when it is a completely different type of game.

Red Dead Redemption's new DLC got a ten as well, is it a full game? No. Is it super long? No. Is it one of the best DLC's ever made? Possibly yes that doesn't mean it should be compared to other, full games.

We already knew IGN was full of good old fashioned bull shit.

Or, rather, I did. How are you realizing this just now?

Also: THAT WAS EPIC FOR THE WIN.

That pac-man game does look pretty amazing. I'd probably give it a 10. Now if only that number MEANT anything.

IGN always follows what everyone else says, they were dead to me a while ago.

Personally, GameInformer is getting worse. Their Sacred Cow Barbecue was lame, and their 30 characters that defined a decade is just abysmally bad. GLaDOS and Master Chief beat Auron and Phoenix Wright.

Pacman was the ONLY game besides Kirby's Epic Yarn that I enjoyed at this year's E3.

IGN is, and has always been, one of the LAST places you should be listening to on games.

A perfect 10

When I see a 10, I jump to metacritic and if that number isn't above 97, the giver of the 10 is in serious trouble. 10s are reserved for the best of the best, on the singular page of the history books in a hundred years that mentions video games as a sector of pop culture, these are the games whose pictures will be there.

I don't know what you think, but a random Pac Man re-release, seriously!
I just went to Metacritic and guess what? The game has a 97% (only 8 reviews so far). I bet you feel mildly stupid now.
IGN is almost always within 10% of the Metacritic average. I wouldn't throw their reviews away so quickly.

Edit: Also, you're asking a community that is very dedicated to their site (they should be, it's great). Don't you think there is going to be a little bias in the poll?

Your dissowning an entire sight because they gave a 10 to a game you didn't like? If your going to be that fickle and whiny about something, I dont understand why you expect people to sympathize with you.
It isn't that I don't like the game, simply that I think it isn't worthy of a 10. I don't really like the CoD series but I understand that some people think it is the best game ever and I respect that but I don't honestly think that IGN was justified in giving such a prize to a pacman remake

IGN gave Donkey Kong Returns a 9, so what?, the world's not gonna end if Pac-Man recieves a 10 out of a XBLA title, also I stopped trusting IGN's reviews a long time ago.

I know this has already been said before, but if all you care about is numbers then go be an accountant. I'm sure if you read teh full review they will explain why they felt it appropriate to give such a high score.

Also, before ranting about an undeserved score, maybe you should try, I dunno... PLAYING THE GAME?

Just a thought...

IGN is an awful site that gets paid to review games that can't really be meaningfully compared based predominantly on hype and pedigree instead of quality. Really, the only reason to visit that site is for their journalism, not their criticism, and even that is merely passable.

That is sort of odd. Also, is any game really worth a 10? I mean in a philosophical sense all games strive to be perfect but do any really reach that coveted position? :p

Wow..really? I'm trying to decide whether you're trolling or not, please for the love of god say I missed the sarcasm ><
There are people who think they are terrible, really, but who cares because none of our opinions matter anyway.

On topic: I never pay too much attention to anyone's reviews on games, usually I just see what other people think then try it myself even if they don't like it. nothing to get worked up about. Also I hate how much their site makes my web browser lag!

When you're judging a game review based on an arbitrary number alone... you need help.

The number provides a general, at-a-glance impression of the quality of a game. If the number's higher than 8.5, think "it's probably good." If the number's lower than 7 on IGN think, "maybe try a demo or something." If it's lower than 4, run. Otherwise it doesn't tell you anything.

If two reviewers give two entirely different games, from entirely different genres, an 8.4 and an 8.6 -- I'm not even sure what to say here. The comparison isn't fair to begin with, and I can't think of a point system that would scale fairly for an amusing arcade game and a non-linear, storytelling, action-RPG extravaganza, never mind one that would account for a 0.2 point difference.

The numbers are guidelines and largely nonsense. If you want a review, actually try reading the review.

I have lost respect for Ign but I forgive them because I, as you check the escapist, kotaku, gamespot and IGN but Ign I just check because it keeps you up to date with the videogame world, but reviews, well u can't spell ignorance without IGN.
Also I don't trust 10s cause no game is perfect, for reviews I recommend game trailers, the escapist, or gamespot.

I'm not. I'm stating an opinion. Which in this site doesn't matter apparently.

maybe if i grew up with pac man and it was the only game available to me, it would be pretty awesome. But we live in a world full of choices so why would i play pac man when i could be fighting off a zombie horde or killing andrew ryan?I'm not saying pac man is a bad game, I'm just saying there are much better ones.
