Hello there.

This here thread's about posting habits - specifically, do you, having posted on a thread, then return at all, for any reason?

Do you keep watch of a discussion in a thread, popping in every now and again to deliver some words of wisdom?

Or do you only return to a thread when quoted?

Or do you just "hit and run", so to speak, and simply post once and then leave, never to post again?

Personally, I find it depends on the topic. Most of the time, I'll post, maybe keep an eye of the way the discussion's going, but only reply again if I'm quote, or called out.

However, there are some threads which I keep a constant eye on. Music threads, for example, because they often have new artists pop up, and I'm always up for new artists. Threads about authors are also subjected to this.

So, my question to you is this: What are your posting habits? Do you post and leave or post and reply when quoted? Do you post constantly, ever aiding the ongoing discussion or do you post, and just keep an eye out without posting?

[sub]Apologies if this is a repeat.[/sub]

It depends if I feel the thread is worthy of discussion in great detail - if it is I'll stick around and post two or three times. If I'm slightly intrigued I may post once and leave unless I am quoted.

The bookmark system has made this easier.

I usually wait until I get quoted.
But if it's my thread, I tend to keep an eye on things. Still a newb, you see.

I really only keep referring to a thread when I'm proud of what I wrote, or when it's a troll, and I look to see what the punishment was.
And if those 2 fail, it's probably because I've been quoted.

Depends on what kind of thread. If it's an interesting one, I'll post, and reply to quotes, and sometimes I reply to other opinions to discuss. The nature of posting.

Essentially this.

Post once and then you keep an eye on a thread, if nothing interesting is going on or I don't get quoted then I generally stop caring. But its always nice to have discussions that last more than one post.

Essentially this, if nobody quotes me there generally isn't anything left to say since I've said my piece in my original post. However, I will post again if I strongly agree/disagree with somebody in the thread.

I drop in, check out the other posts, then post. I return if I'm quoted but other than that I seem to forsake threads

Depends on the forum. On The Escapist, I usally drop my two cents in, move on, and reply when quoted.

Imageboards, I post and then frantically slam my F5 key like a hermit watching his FedEx order leave Ohio.

PHPBB-based boards (say that five times fast), I like to post once in a while and forget all about it.

It depends on the topic. Also, I don't comment unless I'm interested in the topic. And if I'm quoted there's a good chance I'll get back to the person if we are actually having a conversation.

Usually, I only return to a thread if I'm quoted or if the topic is extremely interesting to me.
Most threads ("Zombie survival plan?!") I'll post once and never return... unless quoted.

It depends on the thread. I frequently recheck threads I make and Forum Games I'm in, but otherwise usually don't return to threads unless quoted.
