It's only annoying because the PC isn't a part of it, I guess it's the CONSOLE wars though.
Alright alright I'll get on with my rant... PC's have the BETTER game selection, although that's up for debate I suppose. The 360/PS3 games ported over to the PC run a lot smoother (especially the FPSes) and the whole "expensive" thing about PCs doesn't really stand up by itself very well since our games are cheaper than yours most of the time and upgrading is basically the same price as buying a new console.
If you already own a computer it only costs you like $800 (Australian) to upgrade (graphics card, RAM, processor, motherboard IF you need a new one, otherwise it'd probably be $600) Hell, it's as much as buying a new console if you don't need a new motherboard, hell I just upgraded for $500. You get nicer eye candy while you're at it, especially when you cream your pants after looking at the Megaton nuke on the highest settings at your friend's house and he owns a GTX295 graphics card.
You can't really argue a console against a PC because we can do more, we do it prettier, we do it more efficiently and you probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for us. Anything your console can do I can do better with a PC (Provided your console isn't a Wii, but it does it's own thing and actually DOES IT WELL instead of being exactly the same as the other guys with a couple different things blu-tacked onto it)
Anyway, this is the CONSOLE wars, I.E Microsoft and Sony taking turns masturbating in eachothers faces while Nintendo stands in the corner re-releasing the same thing 50 times being completely ignored by his two competitors. I'm not really into the console war anyway, I own a PC, I own a good PC by the way and I only own a 360 so I can play the occasional exclusive that comes out so I can play the one or two good games on it.
Oh and Halo 2 and 3 DO suck but Halo 1 didn't.

The answer to the console war? Buy a PC. It isn't a console, but then you have to fight the "Windows vs. Mac vs. Linux" war instead.
Oh as to Windows vs. Mac (Linux doesn't really count...)
There's no argument.
Mac = More expensive, can do media and stuff better and is more secure but can't game.
PC = Cheaper but less secure, can't do as much media but kicks the shit out of Mac for gaming.
There's no argument because they each do their own thing and your purchase depends on what YOU want to do, if you want to game you buy a PC, if you want to make pretty videos you buy a Mac.
IMHO though, Windows 7 will deal a near deadly blow to OS X or whatever Mac's OS is called... Just look at the beta for Windows 7, it's fucking SEXY.
