It all stems back to the bad habit of when we were young and we all had the mentality of wanting the "best" of everything. Us kids always wanted to have the latest and greatest toys/clothes/services we could, and videogames were no different. We all wanted the "best" console that was out there, and no one wanted to end up with the "loser" system. When I had a NES I bashed the Genesis (until I was able to get one.) When I had a Genesis I bashed the SNES (until I was able to get one) and so on and so on. Also, many of us were at the mercy of our parents and/or lowly allowances and could not easily go out and get whatever system we wanted. We had to hope that what we got would stay the best the longest. For whatever reason, these child-like influences haven't gone away for many people.

PC fans are pretentious cunts. PS3 fans are overdefensive pricks. 360 fans are rabid dickholes. Wii fans are still learning the basics of speech and can't argue either way.

I own all of 'em, and am above your petty squabbling.
Obviously not, as you posted that just to start a flame-war.

OK, I'm going to say this as calmly as I possibly can.
*AHEM*
We're all gamers, we all love to play games, and we all love to trash-talk other players online. It doesn't matter if you bought one console for it's game library, blu-ray player/graphics, or famliy fun. It doesn't matter if you bought a console for motion controls, six-axis controls, or the standard push-buttons-and-manipulate-joystick controls. It doesn't matter if you bought the console for its DLC content. And it doesn't matter that some of us have spent our car payment on the more expensive consoles.
We all have one thing in common and that is we all love to play games, so casual gamers, hardcore gamers, and fanboys/girls we all need to bury the console wars under 6 no 12 feet of dirt, or possibly cement, and erect a tombstone over the site and write, "It really was stupid, don't ever come back, stay in the ground and rot in hell."

I'm a 360 owner, and let me say, the PS3 has recently released some games that are definite hits and are seriously making me consider getting a PS3 as well.

Think its unfair to asume that only fanboys are part of the debate but yes it has grown tiresome. Each console has its own unique features and i think its fairly level to be honest. Oh and like a few other people here, I think its stupid that PC has been ruled out just because it would beat them all lol

That's because you're a tool.
I know :( At least that makes me useful?

Actually, I didn't. In my experience, those are the broad "character types" that seem to come up for each group - take the PC fans on this thread, every one of them that has been vocal has stated that PCs are better than consoles. While I like to think I'm over it now, while I only owned a 360, I WAS a rabid dickhole due to the PS3 fanboys in college who wouldn't let me think that the 360 controller was better. I've also yet to meet a Wii fan who fits into the "gamer" demographic, either being far too young or old. I guess the old people have learnt the basics of speech, so the Wii description was wrong.

I don't really care about it. I'm not a part of it and it doesn't effect me. I have my opinions and that's that. I suppose that, as with all wars, it would be better if it was ended. But if other people want to kill/argue with eachother, who am I to stop them?

It's dem fanboys/girls. I know two on this site that prevented me from owning a PS3 because of because they own them and take too much pride in that system. I have an Xbox 360 and a Wii and I love the Wii more then the other ones. Not saying the PS3 is a bad system, I'm not fond of most of there games. And I thought Imfamous would be that game I'd like. Wasn't impressed but not disappointed either. Hell, that's like some of the Xbox 360 games. Some are good and some are bad. Everyone will call out a game to bash for no reason and the owners will defend them. Best example is Halo. They bash on it on how it sucks and it got prefect to near prefect scores and I counter with LittleBigPlanet. That game got prefect to near prefect scores as well and I thought it was a shitty platformer. But then there's the PC owners. Well...while PC's have a decent selection, you'd need a computer to handle it. So you'll spend lots of money to build a great computer to play for example Crysis. And then brag about how your computer plays Crysis with no problem. There is no end. Personally. These comments are why I love the Wii. Most people bash the Wii because of the Graphics and shitty games it has and the motion controls that I've never had a problem with them and reviewers complain about the motion not registering yet my cousin can play Zack and Wiki and Madworld with no problem. My view on the console wars is....that it's the best show on Earth.

You are good man sir! You hit the nail right on the head.

It's cute when little kids argue about whther Sonic's super-speed could take on Mario's super-strength in a fair fight. But when those kids are 30 and argueing about processing speed and disc storage it's just sad.
Also this.

I don't know why you would say one is better than the others and such. They all play games, am I right? It depends on your taste in games, is all.

While I do believe one console is better than another. (Right now, 360 is easily the best of the 3, but PS3's lineup is strong this year.)
It is really annoying when fanboys refuse to admit another consoles strong points. You know this is because mommy won't buy them both.
As someone with all 3 consoles, They're all pretty good.

It's only annoying because the PC isn't a part of it, I guess it's the CONSOLE wars though.

Alright alright I'll get on with my rant... PC's have the BETTER game selection, although that's up for debate I suppose. The 360/PS3 games ported over to the PC run a lot smoother (especially the FPSes) and the whole "expensive" thing about PCs doesn't really stand up by itself very well since our games are cheaper than yours most of the time and upgrading is basically the same price as buying a new console.

If you already own a computer it only costs you like $800 (Australian) to upgrade (graphics card, RAM, processor, motherboard IF you need a new one, otherwise it'd probably be $600) Hell, it's as much as buying a new console if you don't need a new motherboard, hell I just upgraded for $500. You get nicer eye candy while you're at it, especially when you cream your pants after looking at the Megaton nuke on the highest settings at your friend's house and he owns a GTX295 graphics card.

You can't really argue a console against a PC because we can do more, we do it prettier, we do it more efficiently and you probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for us. Anything your console can do I can do better with a PC (Provided your console isn't a Wii, but it does it's own thing and actually DOES IT WELL instead of being exactly the same as the other guys with a couple different things blu-tacked onto it)

Anyway, this is the CONSOLE wars, I.E Microsoft and Sony taking turns masturbating in eachothers faces while Nintendo stands in the corner re-releasing the same thing 50 times being completely ignored by his two competitors. I'm not really into the console war anyway, I own a PC, I own a good PC by the way and I only own a 360 so I can play the occasional exclusive that comes out so I can play the one or two good games on it.

Oh and Halo 2 and 3 DO suck but Halo 1 didn't.

The answer to the console war? Buy a PC. It isn't a console, but then you have to fight the "Windows vs. Mac vs. Linux" war instead.
Oh as to Windows vs. Mac (Linux doesn't really count...)
There's no argument.
Mac = More expensive, can do media and stuff better and is more secure but can't game.
PC = Cheaper but less secure, can't do as much media but kicks the shit out of Mac for gaming.

There's no argument because they each do their own thing and your purchase depends on what YOU want to do, if you want to game you buy a PC, if you want to make pretty videos you buy a Mac.
IMHO though, Windows 7 will deal a near deadly blow to OS X or whatever Mac's OS is called... Just look at the beta for Windows 7, it's fucking SEXY.
